Using those buttons on the dash is so overrated anyways..

Good luck with the install. I would like to see pics once completed. I may be interested as well.

Thanks, James

What is the plan here? Move the switches down and do away with the lowest tier of crap? (Lighter/coin holder/SRS light)?

I’m considering that massive undertaking. I’ve read through all the double din posts. I’ll see how it goes.

I moved the switches to where the cup holder was and kept the ashtray module where it was. My mod has the buttons we’ll recessed to prevent accidentally touching them.
The ash tray has the return spring removed and I am halfway to making it spring out a little which will enable it to be fully pulled out by hand. Keeping this module in place means the lighter and passenger air bag light remain as is. I like the coin holder and the ash tray holds odds and sods.
I plan on adding a charger/voltage meter to the gear shift bezel.

Where have you been? I started the thread over nine months ago. I have to get it painted yet, it is fitted in the car and works except for the ash tray.
I have to do the head liner first.
This is the third part of my thread, see posts one and two for the rest. CLICK
I am using the head unit amp, would it be better to use the head unit pre-outs instead and use the Infinity amp?

It really did not take too much time, I never rushed the job along at all as I had all winter to do it.
It helps to be good with a file and have a good supply of various file types.k The nerve racking part was using the router table to make the parts to size and fit together nicely, one slip and the part can get ruined. You have to know which way to feed the part against the cutter, go the wrong way and the cutter will grab the part and wreck it and your fingers too if you are not careful. Simple fixtures help to cut the parts smoothly with cuts of even depth. I was going to do a thread on cutting, machining and gluing the parts, maybe I’ll get to that sometime.

Well, remember, they moved me from Georgia to Texas with little notice. It's been quite a year...

Dave, as to the sound system question, I've got to get my ISP connection fixed - it's so slow that the photos in that other thread won't load and it's hard to read thru...
Ill try to answer this weekend.
