It certainly appears that way. I have an 07 that I've had since 2015 and no issue so far, I guess I could yank it out and see if they changed the design any.
I'll try to remember to do that this weekend, we are supposed to get near 70F this weekend here in north Texas.

Nice temperature, but I would miss using my snow blower, it takes the place of the Crossfire for thrills. It has six speeds forward and two reverse, nice snow tyres, electric start using a simple key with no SKREEM problems possible. It has not got HID lights so I have to use it in daylight hours. The worse things that have happened so far is running over and shredding the news paper buried under the snow, it got blown like confetti all over the yard and finding a buried brick that somehow got on the driveway, half of which was hurled across the lawn and the other half got jammed in the impeller. This thing could be used for batting practice if it did not chew up the ***** so much.

I bought an old snowblower and converted it to a pine straw blower, I got 2" of pine straw last week, nasty stuff and salt don't work for it
( not really, in case someone wants a DIY )

Dave, my snow blower has an LED headlight, heated grips and push button start. I'm told they come with cup holders now! So far, I haven't had to use it this year, no snow to speak of in the banana belt yet.

Yeah I have the push button start, but it is quicker just to prime and yank. Security has been all but forgotten on these blowers, thieves could jump it with a piece of wood in the key slot and then race away in top gear at a fast walk. Cup holders were not an option on my Toro, lights and a vinyl cab enclosure were.
I opted for the roadster model though, nothing like blasting down the driveway with the artic air rushing around your toque. Except for the lack of a two four pack it could be a scene from Bob and Doug Mckenzie at times.

As far as I know, all years are effected.

The new ones may be OK as they should have learnt from the problems they had on the first ones.
Maybe it was caused by improper technique on just some of the production at the time.

Probably insufficient time in the solder bath to fuse the joints.
But, too long in the bath could burn the components making it a balancing act.
Touch of the old soldering iron and all is well.

Thanks, I try to add a little humour to my posts. Not always successful, some have been taken as insults, but we keep trying.

Thank goodness you do Dave. I pity those who lack a sense of humour and take offense.
