Default Door Speaker Question

Hey guys I've done a little searching but haven't found the answer to my question so I apologize in advance if this question has been answered before. I would like to replace my door speakers but most aftermarket door speakers are 4 ohm independence and I know our system is 2 ohm. Now if I buy 4 ohm speakers will it mess up the amp at all? and I know when you go lower in independence that your wattage doubles. So if our factory system puts out 35 watts at 2 ohms and I buy 4 ohm speakers rated at 70 watts or more should I be okay?
Thanks to all who have took the time to read this and hopefully someone can help me out on this.

Before you change your speaker in the doors, you may want to read the the thread below, that was authored by pelked1 several years ago. This one will save you $, since the cost is less than $2.00 and will provide a much improved performance from the existng speakers. It will drastically reduce the base boom with the standard set up. Just read some of the responses from other members, including myself on this subject.
Just my 2 cents....

yeah I looked into that. I am going to do that just to the tweeter though i still want bass just more crisp bass coming from the door speakers. I already blew one so I figured i mine as well buy a aftermarket set of door speakers with higher rms rating and better quality to get more crisp sound and to keep them form blowing. I did some more research today and realized i would be getting more power from a 4 ohm speak but less. So I am definitively going to go with a 2 ohm speaker. My next question is there any two ohm speakers you guys recommend? I saw a few post of people recommend a infinity speaker but i can't seem to find the model of the one people were buying.

You cannot do that "just to the tweeter", the tweeter and the main speaker are wired in parallel ......

Even if I do it inside the door where the tweeter connects in? Sorry for my stupidity if I'm completely wrong on this on I'm just curious as to my options also do you know of a good 2 ohm replacement speaker?

You would have to have a separate feed from the amplifier to the tweeter ( which does not exist with the Infinity amp )

Oh since they are wired together it would affect both even if I wired it after. I was under the impression that if I wired it after the door it would only affect the tweeter but it must somehow put a load both the door speaker and tweeter correct?

Yes, I guess you could say they are "wired together in the door"

Do you understand that the capacitors reduce bass to the doors?

Okay thanks for clearing that up I was just a little confused on how caps worked. Been a few years since I messed around with them

Yeah I understand that they reduced bass to the doors. What I didn't know is if I could just reduce the bass to just the tweeters as leave the bass coming from the speaker. I' a bass head. Haha

Let us know how it works out, but you have got to get to the tweeter wiring now. I suspect that the wires come into the door, go to the tweeter then jump to the midrange speaker. If so, you've got to take the door apart.

Then, see below.

The capacitor blocks low frequencies to both speakers on the left, but only to the tweeter on the right, because the feed from the amp can (on the right) get to the midrange speaker without flowing thru the capacitor.

But again, I think you will need to take the door apart to make this happen.

Thanks alot. You just confirmed what I was thinking. I never planned on doing it at the amp I had the door apart several times since I had the car and the tweeter is wired after the door speaker. So it should be no trouble I wire it. What I was getting confused on was how exactly a cap worked. I didn't know if it out a load on that whole channel no matter where I put it as one guy explained to me earlier. I thought I should be able to wire it after the door and it wouldn't affect the door speaker but someone else told me it would and would be pointless to do so

Getting in late on the game with what may be a stupid question, but I need help "the left door larger speaker sounds fine on radio but sounds like shtttt when I play a CD. Tried the CD player cleaner no improvement and I am sure some of the radio stations are received in stereo as the ST is on the display and they sound good.
Help? Any ideas?
