Electrical Short
My fog lights would not turn off. There's a short and that whole light panel needs replacing. Chrysler is charging 800.00 for parts/labor saying whole panel needs replacing.
Anybody else have this issue with lights just not turning off then draining battery? Would like to find a local mechanic near fort myers, Florida to look into this.
Thanks.

Thanks old man. Chrysler still has my car. How much to correct your problem?

In my estimation, I'd say there is a 50-50 chance the light switch is the problem.
Everyone ALWAYS forgets that there are TWO sources of A+ for the fog lamps:
Light Switch
CLP/SSM (Central Locking pump - Security System Module)
Few "mechanics" will be any more effective at resolving this than you would be. I'd order the switch off eBay and see if it fixes it.
BUT FIRST......
Yank Fuses 25 and 26 from the under-hood fuse box. If the lights go out, the issue is in the CLP/SSM.
If you think the light switch is expensive, wait till you ask about the CLP/SSM.

Our cars became orphans when the Diamler-Chrysler marriage fell apart.
Mark, if it were the 'Central Locking pump - Security System Module', wouldn't more than just the fogs be on? I haven't taken time to look over the wiring diagrams.

I took my car to Mercedes first and they REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT MY CAR. That's mercedes Galena in FORT MYERS, FL. So I ended up at chrysler. I'm looking into other options at this point.
James,
I'd have to really look over the diagrams as well, but the output to the other lights HAS to be isolated, either with diodes or multiple relays - otherwise, you would not have the fogs isolated from the parking lights. But I agree, I'm not certain how they isolate things.
HoneyB,
I know most MB dealers won't admit it is an SLK320 with a different body, but it is. What I tell people to do is find a local shop that advertises MB experience and expertise. The similariites in wiring between the SLK320/32 and other MB products is rather extensive. (And the mechanical similarities are almost 100% once you get to the drive train and chassis level).
In Atlanta, it's Buckhead Imports - wonderful bunch of guys. Any major metro area that has a similar MB population will likely have SOMEONE who will look at your car.
In my case, I often go to "Glover's Garage" - they don't advertise MB, but one of the owner's wives drives an SLK320 - he has grown to know the car. Her car has, last I talked to him, 170,000 miles on it.
Actually, I SELDOM take ANY vehicle to ANY car dealer's service department. I have only once had a good experience at a car dealer's service department.

I took the top letter to them, they ordered me a new top without even looking at my car.
4 days later it arrived and I picked it up and installed it myself ( with maxcichon's expert guidance and assistance ).
I then took Annie back to them and they did a 4 wheel balance with one of those road force balancers for $40
and didn't scratch or nick anything. They even used my torque wrench to put the wheels back on instead of the impact wrench.
Service manager there said "No problem, if that car was mine, I want it done right too."
**UPDATE**
I just wanted to say thank you to all that responded to my dilemma. James you were correct about the part needed for repair. I ordered it half price what chrysler was charging and had my friend install it for free. Chrysler wanted $280.00 for install, $475 for part and $79.00 diagnostic. Wtf? I did have to give up $79.00 to them for a diagnostic charge.
Spent a little over $200.00 vs the $830.00 that dealership was quoting.
I'll take it
