When I researched the different values of caps available I just used values I had on-hand in my electronics shop. It turns out that the 270 uF value is a special order 1600 piece minimum order unit.

It so happens that I have 30 pairs (30 kits) to offer. $5 each.

Let me know if you're interested.

WOW! I installed the capacitors yesterday and love the difference. My son listened to it and he turned to look in the rear trunk area thinking I had installed some subs!

A quick and eay fix! Thank you very much for the info about the lack of crossover! I just thought they were blown as I bought mine used.
For anyone thinking about this who doesn't have a garage or a soldering iron yet...

Battery powered iron and it works like a charm for little projects like this.

Now I just have to read up on our line level amps... what were they thinking?

Max, thanks again for working on my HID lighting at the Dragon. I got the stereo mod done yesterday and the difference is amazing. I should have gotten another kit from you as I also have a roadster. I need to get the info for the parking light replacement bulbs. Thanks for all your help.

There is only one word to describe the incredible difference... WOW!

And all I did besides the capacitators is installing a new head unit from Pioneer (DEH-P3100UB). Needed a unit I can control my i-pod with and not being to expensive ($130,- at Wal-mart). If it wouldn't be for the sweet roar of our cars, music would be blasting at all times.

THANK YOU!

Ok I finally jumped on this mod.
Must say there are definitely a lot more highs than there were before. Don't have to turn it up as loud. Did the roadster, the coupe is next.

Have 6 (3 pair) extra 220 caps (100v).
Send $2 with a self-addressed envelope and I'll shoot two to ya.

Has anyone wired in a switch to go from the capacitors back to the original so you can change based on your likes at the moment in time?

I installed about 20 of these for other folks on the Forum, but I used 270uF 65V caps. It, in my opinion gives the best balance of base and clarity from the doors. I found that with a lower value they started to sound "tinny".

Others seem to like them.
how can i get a pair of 270's from you, if you have any ? thx

I am planning on changing my head unit. Would this still be a valid mod? The unit I am planning to use is the Dual XDVDN8190 .

im going to trust your ears that 270 is the sweet spot. it seems to make sense. ive tried 150 and 220, but that 50 more i think should do it.

Thumbs up Re: Biggest stereo bang for the buck mod

Ok, guys, line forms to the left. I found my box of 270 uF, 100Volt caps.

$6 a pair mailed. You will have to come up with connectors. PM me and I'll send them forthwith. and post haste. I'll even throw in some spaghetti sized heatshrink tubing!

Anyone else reading this, I have ~33 pair to go to good homes. I'm not making any money on this, so no complaints! OK?

Paypal works for me.

I'll do Paypal too if it's easier for ya. $3 covers two (2) caps and postage.
Now do the mod!
