What's the big deal, if it is your car, do what ever you want with it and don't care what anyone else thinks. If you want it to be a MB, Chevy, Toyota and ETC., go for it, who cares. As far as I'm concerned, it is a MB built under the Chrysler name (because Chrysler owns part of MB) and built by MB in Germany with mostly MB parts. It wasn't built in the states by Chrysler with mostly Chrysler parts. People have been modifying their cars for years and even calling them something else. Enjoy your car, that's all that matters. Like I said earlier, the name Chrysler is still on the title and insurance.

In some cases I am for debadging as it makes the car come out cleaner. But never because I am trying to hide what it is. I would rather been known as driving a Chrysler than to be known as a poser.
i debadge 'all' of my cars (as you know) including my prior M3... many would love to have an M3 but... i know what i'm driving and that's all that matters...
i prefer the simplified clean look as you stated. as for covering up the chrysler - cheesy dated '80s gold - emblem with the same name as the car 'crossfire'...
i see nothing wrong with that... just a more attractive badging imo... but if one put m/b badges in place of the chrysler badge i could indeed see ones point...

The roadster took 24 months to design according to Joe Dehner, director of design studies for DaimlerChrysler in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The coupe's exterior features creases in the sheet metal that are the inspiration for its namesake. Chrysler began building Crossfire in Germany, in conjunction with Karmann, a long-time Chrysler partner which also built the Mercedes SLK on which the Crossfire is based. Chrysler engineers did a substantial amount of retuning, so that even some German magazines consider the "American" version to be superior to the original (SLK).
I used to work for the company that built the original Crossfire concept for DCX. I have loved the car ever since. The original car was all Chrysler. Once the green light was given to build the production Crossfire we built three more pre-production show cars and CLKs were used as donor vehicles.

I will never call it a Chrysler cus the crossfire is all 3 pointed star, not a five pointed star.

If anything the Chrysler badge hides what the car is and putting on the MB badge would in my eyes make more sense than leaving the chrysler badge... and yes I am embarrassed to be driving a chrysler and for this reason did not purchase a chrysler... I purchased a mercedes benz with a chrysler sticker on it... took of the chrysler sticker and now i am left happy with just the mercedes benz i wanted...

Again for your second paragraph the chrysler badge hides what it is... o yea and poser? There are so many little mercedes and amg markings i find in my car while looking through the engine and other places, but haven't really seen a mopar, chrysler marking... hm... I wonder why is that?!?

Isn't the CLK320 available as a convertible?

I debadged the "CROSSFIRE" name because of aesthetics not because I was embarrassed by it on the rear deck. I did the same with my Miata years ago. My SLK a few years ago. I view a lot of logos on small cars as too much manufacturer clutter.
I like my Crossfire. Its made in Germany By Karmann. Yes, that Karmann Ghia, Karmann. The high quality coach-builders who have built cars for Porsche, Mercedes and BMW (among others) for many years.

Actually, I'd rather NOT tell anyone of the Mercedes Parts in my Chrysler Crossfire...I don't want anyone to think I belong in the stereotypical group most associate with those who own Mercedes...NOT that all Mercedes owners fit into that group, but I didn't see any Mercedes ANYTHING at the last autocross I was in, nor at the drags, and a Mercedes car show probably ranks right up there with watching paint drying as far as excitement goes, so - I guess the Chrysler influence on the Crossfire is the only mainstream way to get the 3 pointed star into any of the grass root Americana that makes up the autosport season that many American auto enthusiasts enjoy every year. After I beat a Mustang, Camaro or Subaru WRX at the track, I am proud to tell them they were beat by a Chrysler! And without Chrysler, there would have never been a CROSSFIRE...

O.K. That's one for Chrysler...
Well lets see, Mercedes Benz (McLaren) just won the Malasian F1 Grand Prix. The top form of racing in the world...

I think partially due to people believing that this car is a chrysler has the price dropped so low, I mean who would actually pay $50k for a chrysler car with chrysler parts, especially one in the performance segment... and please don't tell me that they used to make good cars 30 years ago... times have changed much, and before the merge the entire chrysler // dodge line was cheap low quality cars... maybe and only maybe with the exception of the viper...

Had this car been badged mercedes it would of easily took in the expected MSRP... O well the sales of this car say a lot about chrysler as a company... not only where they given amazing carry over parts, but they were able to come up with an absolutely outstanding design... i love the crossfire, but I give little credit to chrysler for it... except for where it is due... and its due in the design department... those guys and Erik Stoddard did a good job there.
