First ticket
i got pulled over and the cop asked if i knew how fast i was going...I said no ...he said thats why theres a speedometer in front of your face.....he was a state cop and his smokey the bear hat kept falling off cuz the crossfire is so low ha ha
I'll show my GPS. It clocked me at 139mph in Mexico.
That is correct, they even had to take the Bugatti to a huge 15mile oval to get it up to those speeds...I can't remember which track it was, but indeed I do not believe even the Koenigsegg CCXR can hit over 250mph let alone 273mph...but then again, I'm sure somewhere, someone is doing some modifications to it
In Illinois legislation just went into effect that it is a $300 ticket for 1mph over in a construction zone and a second offense in a year is $1000 and 90day suspension of liscence.
You just have to know what procedures need to be done before, during, and after the shift to ensure proper calibration...without documentation of those procedures there is overwhelming evidence against the ticket for margin of error.

Pennsylvania is just one state trying to raise money, and this is how, NY is doing the same thing. Just a heads up.

Hey smpshady.... I live in Johnson City, not far from you. I've seen a few XF's in the area, but haven't seen your SRT yet.
I was stopped in western NY back in early May driving my Kia. It was obvious the trooper was just on a mission to raise money. He had me on my way very quickly once he got my information. The good thing was that the fine was quite a bit less than the one I received locally back in February for the same speed over the limit. I got that one the second day I had the XF back on the road.

I’ve had three tickets this year, all Photo enforcement "click" and a ticket arrives at your house. No police, no warning, the radar detector doesn’t even go off! The local authorities are parking various unmarked vehicles with cameras on our streets, I got one for doing 3mph over the posted 35mph. and another one for going 18 over ($140.00) Do you think it would look weird having a pristine roadster driving around with a mud covered license plate?
Gotta love technology!

My wife got a ticket doing 71 in a 70 in 2008 Jeep Commander. The judge looked at the ticket and looked at the office and asked him why did he waste his ink. Then he told my wife to have a nice day.

I had to pay my first and only speeding ticket (78 in a 65, IIRC) Minnesota is very strict about its speeding rules, there's no way to have a continuation and there's no such thing as "Traffic School".
At first I was worried about insurance rates, etc, but once I computed just how many billable hours I could get for the cost of the speeding ticket, I ended up paying it anyways.
A year later and my insurance premium still hasn't gone up.
Immediately after I got my ticket, I bought a Valentine One. It was a bit expensive but it beats flying blind any day. I just wish it was legal in VA!

As for the calibration none-sense... it means nothing in court. They are trained to visually determine the speed and that alone will hold up in court. A radar gun is even better and a laser gun is dead on. But any of those 3 methods are all the judge needs to convict.

I am not saying in these rough economic times that police are not trying to write more tickets, but go ahead and read this and let me know what you think, considering this exact email has been circulating since 2005 LMAOsnopes.com: Operation Yellow Jacket -- Speeding Ticket Frenzy

I am telling you what police officers are telling me. They set their guns at 20MPH over the limit because they don't waste their time with anything less. There is a quota and the pressure rolls downhill to write more tickets.

By the way... a good friend that is a cop in Georgia said tickets under 10 MPH get thrown out in court. Of course that all depends on the situation and location (school zone/construction zone...etc).
well, I can't take this anymore....so here goes, at least for Indiana...in the first place, budgets don't drive the writing of citations...monies recieved by the courts goes back to "state coffers", where it is divided up according to approved budgets, by the court system, enforcement, highways, etc...no one dept gets all the monies...its also only a fraction of the overall budgets of these depts. If this were the case, then, believe me, kangaroo court would be in session...speed trap after speed trap would be set up everywhere, and I know some of you believe this happens now, but it doesn't, at least not in Indiana...that's why the "checks and balances" have to be in place...now, margin of error in Ka band radars is 4-5 mph....so most of us don't write anything under 5 mph over. In fact, most officers don't write anything under 9 mph over...10, then, usually you will get stopped, more than likely cited, depending on the officer and your actions...so, at least for my state, budgets have nothing to do with citations, but number of accidents, complaints on certain sections of highways does...finally, a radar detector is only as good as the operator, you still have to pay attn...as I have stated on here many times, back when this old guy was still on the road, my radar was never activated until I observed the violator, at which time, my thumb was always faster than his foot, but for all those others around him with detectors, they knew now that I was in the area, but I got my target....just my .02 from an old cop...
