Purolator #25277 is the fleece. They also have a paper one #25276. Think I paid $11 at Pep Boys last week for the fleece one.

Don't go with the paper one. Your engine will thank you if you use the fleece!

I buy my filters from the local Benz dealer, part number 0001802609. Mann is the OE supplier, but the filters are slightly different. I have seen what aftermarket filters can do to our engines where I work. Never heard of any issues with the Mann fleece filters, but I will pay the extra couple bucks for the OE.

The M/B kit #0001802609 contains the Mann #HU718/5 filter w M/B #A 112 184 05 25 marked on it plus the o-rings. The OE and non-OE Mann filters are exactly the same, yet the non-OE marked Mann cost 1/2 as much as the OE marked Mann. Your wasting your money buying from the dealer. They just double the price by stamping the star & their own p/n on it.

I agree with that guy ^^^^^

Autozone and NAPA are CLEARLY reselling Mann Fleece filters. Just make SURE you get the FLEECE filter (Purolator 25277) !
NO PAPER FILTERS!!!!

PG knows his stuff...
From M/B Forum:
This is the Mann Fleece Filter that Mercedes recommends for high-interval oil changes on the W211 (like our 2004 E500) and the W164 (like our 2008 ML350). It isn't "like" that filter. It IS that filter. Yes it says Purolator Classic (a mid-range Purolator line), but when you pull it out it says "Made in Germany" IN GERMAN on it and is a Mann filter in a Purolator box. WHY? Because Mann owns Purolator now. It and Bosch bought Purolator filters in a joint venture years ago, and then Bosch sold its interest to Mann. This lets Mann penetrate the US aftermarket without having to sell under its own brand, but gives those of us who WANT the Mann product a way to get it at dealers that don't carry Mann.

Bottom line : make sure no trees were killed in the making of your filter, just sheep.

The fleece filter is the way to go, no matter the cost. I purchased a case of them on sale years ago from Needswings. (Mann) Each box has all the O rings plus one extra. (multi models use the same filter)

Just an observation but the MANN 718/5 is $10 while the Purolator L25277 and Bosch 72204WS are $13 on Amazon.
