Key stuck
Then by all means don't do it.

Well Ed, I am happy to hear that you did not sell your Crossfire over the Sticky Key Fix issue . . . One that you knew about and did not fix until it left you stranded. I was really upset thinking that you would sell your Crossfire over a simple fix issue. Welcome back to the good graces of this forum and its members . . .
Take it from me it’s going to happen when you least expect it too ! Do it now ! Mine showed no signs at all of sticking or getting stuck, 29K miles on her ! Now that’s it’s fixed can’t beleive how easy it turns , like a knife going thru soft butter ! Key has never turned this easy !
'07 & '08 models have a "corrected" ignition switch . . .
No. The 7's and 8's (and very late 06's) were built without the two offending items.
Yes mine is a 04 , but yet when you order a new ignition housing they still have the spring & pin ? Why ?

If you ordered the old part number you may get an old part, sometimes you are told the new relevant number. I am sure that the later cars were fitted with a part with different number. A very similar number but a different one. Mercedes altered the part number according to its revisions., I believe the numbers changed would be the 4th and 3rd from the end. I’ll check the part numbers for the 2004 and 2007 years and compare.
Didn't say I wasn't going to do it, I just said that I haven't done it and have had no problems.
In that case I retract whatever I said, even though that doesn't matter as no one listens to me anyway.
I learned that it is easier for a fit sixty year old to get in the trunk and put the five trunk panels into place than a man in his late seventies who failed to do the same whilst leaning into the trunk. My car would still be without those panels unless bluecoupe had not driven an hour or so to help this old geezer out. For which I am eternally grateful.
I listen to you, that's how I knew to reply
