Find a Lawn Mower oil siphon kit that comes with a long tube. Most lawn mowers nowadays require the oil to be siphoned out rather that drsined from the engine. Check the local Harbor Freight stores or Amazon for one. Doesn't have to be motorized or anything fancy. You only need to remove 1/2 a quart. The one I have has tubing that is small enough to pass thru the oil dipstick tube to the oil sump. Otherwise, you will need to remove the oil filter housing (don't need to change the oil filter) & insert the siphon tube down thru the filter housing.
Since the HI Level alarm is only going off on a short section of road you drive everyday, and it's not alarming consistently as you drive the car elsewhere, I might not do anything until the next oil change. Then only put in 8 quarts during that oil change.
Later,
Thanks for the help. I think, since it only goes off on certain roadways like you say, I'll just wait until the next oil change. If it was on all of the time I would be a little more concerned.

Mikey, be advised a few ppl have had their 'high' oil level result in the sensor 'jamming' to the high signal, resulting in a replacement of said sensor by removal of a few items to get to it. Not sure how many items, just be aware if it sticks 'high' you'll have quite a hassle!

I would have thought that the oil level sensor signal would have been damped as the fuel sensor is. There are no swings up and down of the fuel gauge.
So I think the sensor is faulty or there is really too much oil in the engine.
The dipstick will tell the truth.
Hello all. Well, something strange happened this evening. I was driving the car and heading home when the beep sounded on the same roadway it has before but probably 1/4 mile ahead of the normal spot. I saw the odometer window change to an oil can with a wavy line under it and a blinking HI. This is the first time I have ever seen that. A little further towards the house and the odometer went back to normal.
Could it be that oil is getting sloshed around enough to set this off in the places it has been going off? But all the other times the odometer window never displayed what it did today.
This same thing is happening to my car now. It beeps once and then I see an oil can icon and HI...then it goes back to the normal odometer. But it's happening on a regular basis now.
What to do ?
Thanks
Paul
That means the 0il level is too high. Have you changed or added oil lately? If not you may have water leaking into the oil pan or have a failing oil sensor.

There is one other thing, over on one of the Facebook pages, I saw where this "HI" alarm was coming on. Oil level was fine, the sensor was acting up;, replacing the sensor did it.
But for over ten years now, when doing an oil change, I only put in 8 quarts - period. And I DO NOT keep adding oil until the level gets exactly on the top of the mark like some do. These engines can run up to two quarts low with no harm being done. This is NOT your 350 V8 from the 70's.
Here's the page out of a 2007 Owner's Manual that covers this dash warning light.
Like pizzaguy stated earlier, I also only put 8 quarts in during an oil change (just did one last week). I tried to put 8 liters (8.45 qts) in when I did my 1st oil change. The Oil Level HI Warning Light came on when I drove the 'twisties' in & around The Dragon in Fontana, NC. Siphoned out about a 1/2 qt when I got home - no more warning light. Convinced me!
