Default Help with Sticky Key Lockup

Hi all, long time member but have not posted in a few years and couldn't remember my login details. Basically, I have owned my coupe for almost 12 years, and it's been really reliable up until 2 months ago! Yep, the dreaded ignition failure, and it's been a nightmare! Nobody will touch it here in the UK, so I am trying to fix this myself. Having to drill out the barrel because the little pin thing won't push in and I have watched the video via this site, which has helped massively! So, I just wanted to say hi really and any tips would be gratefully appreciated. 😊

Are you referring to the sticky ignition? If so, no drilling needed. Remove the ignition switch and If I recall correctly there's a metal cover over a spring. Remove the cover and the spring. No need to replace the cover. Remove the spring and you should be good. I did that in 2005 on my crossfire that now has 500,000 miles.

Read the post again. His locked up and he's drilling the pin out.

In the "Sticky Key" thread there are posts from people who have had to drill out the pin, lots of advice in there.

There really is no short-cut once it locks up like that, tho. You will get there, just takes time and effort. And it helps if you are nimble, thin and young - which most of us aren't.

EDITED TITLE because generic thread titles help no one and make the search function ineffective
