It's a straight shot to the dam. Turn right out side the lodge and it's .5 to 1 mile away. No turns. Block the road and wait for all the cars to get out and then have people at the dam to help with parking. Takes ages, but doable.

CONVOY - I and a lady (Nancy, Red Coupe with Lambo Doors) from FLorida will be headed out of Atlanta Thursday at noon from GA400 exit 14. We should arrive at the lodge by 3 or not much later, depends on if we get distracted by something along the way.
If you are one of the beautiful and important people, then you MUST get up there Thursday - so join us! (Non-red cars are welcome!)
Route will be up thru Dahlonega, then over Blood Mountain, to Blairsville and then on to Andrews, Robbinsville, up Hellbender Hill and thru the Gap to the Lodge.

Back a few years ago when we had 80+ cars attend, we ended up parking for pictures across the dam rather than in the parking lot. There is a large parking area on the other side. Made for some great pictures of cars driving across the dam. Gary has a picture (last picture he shows) of that particular gathering in the 1st post of this thread.

Ok, latest version of the Attendee Package. I tried to edit it and get it as close to 'right' as I could.
You will find info on the (now TWO) driver's meetings as well as the welcome Gumbo and the new routes our leaders have come up with.
NO GUARANTEES that we will hold to this 100%, but this is our plan. Who knows what the weekend will bring?

It was a cool area. Maybe it's opened back up. I think Gary contacted someone to see if we could use that area. Not really sure thought. We could always use the bottom of the Dam and have Andy take epic shots from the top.

Hello Everyone. Due to some family health issues, we will not be able to attend TOTDGTG this week. I do have a reservation that I would like to offer to anyone who might need it. I am not looking for any refund on the deposit, so there is a savings for somebody. It is a Willow 1 bedroom cabin, not in the lodge. It is for a Thursday, Oct. 5, arrival and a Sunday, Oct. 8, checkout. The balance to be paid would be $361.98. Send me a message if this would work for you and we will get the details worked out. And I hope to see you all at the next get together.

Just a thought based on Bitjocky's cabin availability. We could use this as a meeting place for the event. Would also provide a place to have Crystal's gumbo on Thursday. With about 80 cars, this would be less than $5 per car if everyone chipped in. Lots of possibilities. We're in for $5!

I have left a voicemail at the number I have for that department although I do not know if it is still valid number for the Fontana dam conservation officer.
I am also attempting to reach the Fontana marina and ask them if that bridge is still under construction or is again open.
I will post anything that I can find out back here as soon as I do and if I am able to I will reserve the lot across the bridge from the visitor center for all of us to park in Saturday morning for a photo shoot proceeding all of our daily runs

We drove over the Dam last year. It wasn't closed then. Are you referring to something other than the Dam Bridge?

I noticed somewhere we were to use channel 7 FRS radios for communications. Looking at the instructions with my radios, Channel 7 requires licensing by the FCC. Unless something has changed only channels 8 - 14 are available for non licensed communications. I have an amateur radio (HAM) license and it doesn't allow me the use of the restricted channels.
