Twice in Three Months!!!
20 years ago (last summer) I drove our 4 year old "Red" Honda CRX to Cedar Point Amusement Park (where they tell you where to park). I had purchased it brand new and loved that little car, it never had even one door ding during the whole time we had it. So when I pulled in the spot I parked about 6" away from my friends car so the people on my drivers side would have about 5' of door clearance between us.
As luck would have it, a Chrysler mini "Church" van pulls in next to me, with the "sliding door" and a 1/2 dozen "large" teenagers get out. I'm satisfied my baby is safely parked and we proceed to enter the park for a day of fun on a hot August weekend.
When I return about 7 hours later, I find the mini van gone, but you can very plainly see where one of the "sweaty" Fat Asp teenagers had planted themselves "leaning" against the drivers side 1/4 panel of my Honda, and actually "buckled" it.
I was furious, but after using a toilet plunger, most of the dent came out. But there was still a 6" long "vertical" crease remaining, (which I could see everytime I looked in the outside mirror.)
I never felt the same about the car after that. (I know it's crazy) but it was just like the car had been "violated" by someone, and it just didn't have that new car "mystic" for me it once had.
I traded it not long after that for an Accord Coupe (we needed a back seat for my Daughter anyway) but it just wasn't as much fun as the little CRX.
People simply have no respect for anybody elses property. My Daughter knew by the age of two, that you don't lean, sit, or even touch another person car, unless they tell you it's OK. Even then, it's not a good idea.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm sorry that a Crossfire fell victim to an idiot who can't parallel park.
One week after purchasing Natalie the weatherman's forecast was in the 70s, I just had to drive it to work for the first time. Came out at 1:00pm to enjoy the day and had some co-workers admiring my baby when one says so you messed up your rim huh? I took a look at my drivers rear tire and saw two half dollar size chunks knocked out. In a fury I went to security and had the security tapes pulled. Seems the very guy who pointed out the damage did the damage. They fired him and the company replaced my rim. And this guy was a supervisor. I had to be restrained and put on leave with pay for 5 days. Natalie has not been to my company since.
How in the world did he damage your rims? And on what grounds was he fired? Unless it was a delibirate act of vandalism, I find it hard to understand how they could fire him over that.
Destruction of personal property (caught on tape) doesn't constitute grounds for dismissal? (Assuming it was deliberate).
What if it had been a "rank and file" employee vandalising a supervisors property, do you think the company wouldn't fire him?

I gotta tell ya, I rarely leave it alone at the mercy of other driver's. I usually drop Lynn off and go park at the back of the lot and wait. I'd like to shop with her and I would park at the back of the lot all by myself, but someone always decides I have the best spot (safest) and parks right next to me. GRRR! At least I drive back and pick her up. And we never take it to crowded parking lots anymore. Matter of fact, I have left because I couldn't find safe parking. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but appreciates the care I take of her car.

Thats why I said "Unless it was a delibirate act of vandalism." Somehow the story just doesn't seem right to me. If he was gonna vandalise the car, why the wheels, especially when its alot easier to vandalize other parts of the car. It takes a lot to take 2 quarter sized chunks out of the wheel. Also, why stick around to "admire" the car after its been vandalized. It just doesn't make much sense.
My girlfriend just dosen't seem to understand. She's from the Chicago-land area. I'm from central Indiana. She just doesn't get why I'm parking at the back of the lot when there are "perfectly good" parking spaces right next to the van (with a billion kids), or next to the junker with the hood held down with bungie cords. I try to tell her, that it's a beautiful car without any door dings, and I wanna keep it that way and she just replies "Calm down, it's just a car."
Just a car? That's like saying "That's okay, we can leave them at the park. They're just your kids." Course, I don't have any kids or it might be "just a car".

Or, the truck was parked, properly in its own space, and the Miata driver used the Stevie Wonder Method of Parking Etiquette.
Or maybe not.

So I took my camera phone and took the picture of the front of the truck smooshed against the Miata Bumper and then took a picture of the rear of the truck showing the license plate. Left a note on the Miata windshield telling them that I have pics of what happen if they were interested to call me. Went into the Sams club and have the photos developed in 1 hour.. When I got out, about an hour later, I had the photos and to my surprise, the owner of the Miata was looking at his bumper. Of course, the truck was already gone. So I handed him the photos and told him what I had saw. Don't know what ever came of it though..
Hi, I just picked up my 2005, black roadster, 6 spd. You mention a wind deflector. Does it work well and would you provide me with the manufacturer's name?
thanks,

For all those who have written that I need to park far away, trust me I do! It just seems in this city you can’t park a nice car far enough away from inconsiderate Dumb A$$es driving thier POS!

The story may not seem right yet he took a big screw driver and made the damage. As to why the rim you will have to ask him if you see him. And yes he was fired and walked out by postal police, ( I work for the U S Postal Service) and charges filed. Some one did damage to my S 430 by keying the drivers side on June of last year camera was not working then I had to get fixed and she has not been back.
