Twice in Three Months!!!
So I just finished up my daily run at a local park, while heading back to my car I noticed my left front bumper was all white and scrapped up. I immediately asked people in the area what happened, a lady came forward and told me some young girl was trying to parallel park her car in front of mine while talking on her cell phone!!! Apparently she backed into my bumper, got out looked at the damage, then sped off. No one was able to get a Tag number. It was just three months ago I had my front bumper fixed after some lady at my work ran into it with her big stupid truck, now this.
The sad thing, is June 15th will be the one year anniversary of purchasing the car new and in that time I have been door dinged twice and hit in the front bumper twice. Like all of you I am extremely cautious where I park my car but it just does not pay to have nice things around inconsiderate people! It almost makes me want to sell my Crossfire and buy a POS I don't have to worry about, like everyone else in this stupid city!
I guess now I have to make a special morning trip to the body shop to see how much this is now going to cost me to fix.

It's kinda too late now, but there's only a few places I frequent. My home is obviously one. At work, I talked to the security team and found out where my car can be seen on a security camera and I only park there so IF someone happens to door ding me, or heaven forbid break into my car, they have it on camera.
So I might suggest to you, if you frequent that park for a daily run, look around to see if there are any businesses that have security camera's and just ask if they have that girl who hit you on camera, or if they're nice enough to tell you which direction the camera is pointed you can always try to park where it will be seen by the camera. I know it's a pain in the butt, but it might just save you a little dough if the police can catch the person who hits you next time.

you have to start planning ahead of time where your going to park, and assume the biggest morron on the road will be parking next to you, this will save you a lot of trouble, just use your immagination!
With a car as different as ours everyone wants to be near to see it in person. I try to use commen sense when parking. Always way out in the lot, protecting one side by the end stall our cart storage, cheating on the safe side and never parking next to a two door car or truck. It still doesn't stop the those that are inattentive but helps.
I have also designed a protection system using the cheap foam float tubes used in swimming pools. I completely surround the car with a ring of these tubes which act much like the floats that hang off of a boat used for docking. By trimming the ends I have found they easily push into one another and stay place. Looks a little funny but quickly identifys the car as one to avoid.

I feel your pain, it makes me sick how disrespectful people are of others property. I had my door dinged by a landscaper mowing over rocks right beside my car the 3rd time I had ever driven it. They paid to have it fixed but that is just pathetic being so careless.
That s---ks - so sorry...I have another 'nice' car and back a few years ago I went to a store and parked like 200 yards away w/no one around...went in - came out - and there's a big ole pickup truck parked real close to my car and the drivers door of the truck was smack against my car w/this older 'gentleman' getting out of the vehicle - I went up, probably red-faced, and asked him what the 'f' he was doing - "oh well I need something to prop my door against cause I can't get out real easy without using the door" - okay - so after a few choice adjectives he walked away and I drove away...
I won't take my XFire anywhere where I can't park at an angle and away from others...hate to have to do that but folks have no consideration for others property...
I have so many stories (as probably all of you do also) its unbelieveable...I would never do that, and if I accidentally hit someone - well you have to be responsible for your actions - don't think we teach that anymore...
Everything is about - me - me - me - we've got "I"pods and "I"phones - the society is not at all 'responsible' any longer...generation gap or something...more I know people, the more I like dogs, and I'm not an animal person...
I hope your bumper doesn't cost too much and that they fix it well!

Once in my wife's car, came out of a store only to have somene parked so close that I had to get in on the passenger side.
I notice that they had left their window down a little. I proceeded to throw every piece of trash that I could into their car. I also left a note thanking them for parking so close.
Just last week, I parked my Cutlass Conv 15 spaces beyond the last car at a Burger joint. When I came out after eating a very quick lunch, a car was parked next to me. Backed in no less.
I was furious and could not wait to see my first door ding. When I got there, the driver was still in the car. She was eating her lunch. I examined my door closely while gestering my disgust. Well the good news was that she must have never opened her door because I did not have a ding. She is very lucky, as am I, as I was prepared to freak out.
Its sad that you have to decide which car to drive based on your chances of receiving damage where you park.

I was pulling into a Sams club parking space right next to a beautiful Miata. When I got out, I noticed that the big truck parked in front of it has pushed into the bumper of the Miata. Obviously the truck driver was oblivious to what has happen otherwise I would assume they would have backed out instead of leaving it pushed against the front bumper of the Miata. So I took my camera phone and took the picture of the front of the truck smooshed against the Miata Bumper and then took a picture of the rear of the truck showing the license plate. Left a note on the Miata windshield telling them that I have pics of what happen if they were interested to call me. Went into the Sams club and have the photos developed in 1 hour.. When I got out, about an hour later, I had the photos and to my surprise, the owner of the Miata was looking at his bumper. Of course, the truck was already gone. So I handed him the photos and told him what I had saw. Don't know what ever came of it though..

If you factor in the cost of all the repairs, your stress level, etc, maybe a good POS would do you good.
I work and park in a crappy neighborhood in Brooklyn. Many of the people around here know me but even so, no one screws with another's car because that's just the way it is. And we all parallel park. Got my first door ding eight days after I bought my Xfire in a Long Island strip mall lot. So, obviously income has no bearing on people giving a damn.
Awhile back I parked by a local a bakery and some dumb A$S woman parked her mini van right next to my car so close that her passenger rear tire was over the line in my space. Let me mention that there were 8 other spaces to the left she could have chosen. Then she proceeded to get out and come around to get her little kid out and didn't have enough room to walk between her van and my car. So she gets back in her mini van and backs up and moves it over about a foot and pulls back into the exact same space again and gets out and gets the kid out and comes into the bakery where I am standing and have been watching her every move out in the parking lot. I wanted to ask her what her problem was but my wife didn't want me to cause a seen as she new I was ready to ream her a new A**hole by now. I always try to park away from other cars but it never fails some A**hole parks right next to me. I am proud of the no ding condition of my Crossfire and would like to keep it this way.
I'm sure some people just don't care but I'd say the majority live their lives that way, as evidenced by the sloppy conditions of their homes.

For all those who have written that I need to park far away, trust me I do! It just seems in this city you can’t park a nice car far enough away from inconsiderate Dumb A$$es driving thier POS!

It ticks me off to no end when people do this. This is just plain ignorance. I recently had someone scratch my front bumper even though I parked away from everyone.
In my case I'm using it as an excuse to replace my bumper with the SRT bumper rather than fixing it. My original bumper is in pretty good shape other than that scratch.
