Roadster rear window problem solved?
Overall I've been very pleased with my Xfire. Unfortunately even though it has spent the last 90K miles in Texas heat it was originally delivered to NJ. I'm appealing to Chrysler, but am not holding my breath that they'll recognize that this car is a southern car... 9K elsewhere is the sticking point. I guess I just have to consider the darn car a Yankee!
Anyone ever replace their own top? If so how long did it take?
Found some new ones on eBay for $950 or so and I think I want to get her year round road ready

Sigh...the back window came out of my 2007 last month. Chrysler has been slow walking me ever since. I got a call today saying they were not going to "participate" in fixing my top because I was not the original owner. My warranty was up in June. I bought the car with 7,000 miles on it. It now had 30,000 miles, is garage kept and hand washed....really Chrysler, you don't think there is a problem?
The warranty on the top is for 100,000 miles and 10 years. I was the second owner of the Red one and the third owner of my Graphite one - and I have a letter for both cars.
I think some specialty tools are needed, if you read in the Service manual section on the convertible top, it talks about the procedure.
There is no alignment of the hydraulics to do, but fitting the top to the frame is a bit tricky - but it does not sound impossible.
Is someone telling you it costs $9,000 dollars for a TOP?
I replaced my top 2 years ago with a top off eBay probably the same seller(Lake Norman Chrysler). If you can use a pop rivet gun and a drill you can do it yourself. Just download the service manual off this site and you should have everything you need to know about removal and installation. I had family in town when I changed mine so I kept getting interrupted so it took me 2 days but hour wise probably 4 to 5 hours plus I took pictures as I did the replacement that added a little time. The top comes with all the rivets for the job also check the condition of the stay pads, mine were dry rotted and had to be changed.
2005 roadster I was concerned about the rear window vibration I noticed while driving with the top up and the windows down. To prevent the rear window from working loose and possibly falling out, I never drive with the top up and windows down. I believe there is a design flaw with the air flow inside the car. This won't solve a loose window problem but may prevent a reoccurrence. blackmart

We are original owners in Riverside Cty, CA, HOT summers w/humidity!
We tried "nice" w/cust. asst., their only offer was well under half the cost, they would NOT put it in writing, would NOT negotiate expired in 30 days! They might as well have come to our house and slapped us in the face!!! Never again Chrysler!
To Whom that may still have the courage to fight; we recently filed a complaint with the Calif. Dept. of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair, including copies of the Warranty Extension/Service Bulletin & the "Letter" w/ Claim Form for Reimbursement that Chrysler mailed to others. Thanks to all of you who have contributed in any way!
Update; the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair tells us that the Warranty Extension issue is "out of their jurisdiction" however they did lead us to another source of help. The Center for Auto Safety (autosafety.org) is a consumer support organization which attempts to cause government agencies, such as the NHTSA and the FTC to take action. As many of you know; the NHTSA has many complaints about our window failure on file, they even have the Service Bulletin/ Warranty Extension! PLEASE: every affected owner; File a complaint at autosafety.org (in 2011, Chrysler wrote the 10year/100,000mile terms, not us!) They CANNOT justify their subsequent geographical restriction and they should NOT be allowed to pick & choose who they want to help! Our complaint should be viewable on that website in a couple of days. We will not give up until all of the dirt settles! Then we will share more to our story. THANK YOU ALL!

Thanks Rets! The Center for Auto Safety has been around for some time & has accomplished some good things. Obviously not many of us here knew of it's existence or there would be many more submissions for window detachment & maybe crankshaft position sensors, ignition switches, RCM (?) circuit boards. We appreciate that many forum members enjoy doing our own repairs, especially with all of the friendly, expert contributors we have (THNX to ALL!) But again; Chrysler wrote the terms in 2011, not us, and they should have to abide by them without their phony State borderline restriction. We mailed documents which tell the truth in black & white. Obviously the NHTSA & FTC need some heavy pushing. If enough people care and go to autosafety.org, well, who knows...We asked for negotiation and Chrysler chose to play hardball!?!
To all the 2005 Roadster owners with rear windw problems, I've got good news. Chrysler paid for my complete window replacement, back in Dec. 2013. Believe me it wasn't easy , but it's done. Here what to do, 1st. thing find a Chrysler dealer that will work with you, I wasn't so lucky the first time. I agreed to pay what the warranty would not cover at the time of the service to the trim shop. Chrysler agreed to send me by mail a check for the money I paid. I worked with a girl named Anne from Chrysler Customer Service. She was very helpful solving my problem. Phone number for Anne is 1-855-314-9466 ext: 66139. I hope this will help you get a new roof. If you have any Questions e-mail me at johnwejr@yahoo.com

from another owner and He suggested that I try Customer Assistance again?
Note to All: the NHTSA website has TSB 23-035-11 Rev A, listed under 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster, ( not "Crossfire Convertible") along with all the complaints. They should be getting many phone calls (888-327-4236) asking why your car is excluded?? (Hint-Hint!) Thanks & Good Luck to All!
I am sorry to hear that they are so crappy to certain states with an item that is falling out everywhere...I did get the letter, and waited till mine fell out on the top edge...I had already 3M'd the bottom and sides and figured a little more weathering would add to the life of the new one not being put on immediately....still love my car, but will consider y'alls treatment at their hands when I buy another vehicle...I am likely getting a 2014 vette when they start coming up used, and parking my crossfire in a well protected garage for a while...it's worth more to me than the little bit I can get back out of it, and only 68k miles...I drive it daily to work, 20 miles round trip...never been in shop except for maintenance and the top...
Wife and I just bought a 2005 red roadster with 34K miles . After reading through the top problem threads I checked ours, and sure enough someone has repaired with what looks like epoxy. Car was originally delivered and has been in Texas its entire life. Would this be covered under the warranty even if repair does not appear to be leaking "yet" . There is some leakage indication on one side of the top. Thanks for any info, this forum is great and we love the car.
