Roadster rear window problem solved?
Is your car "Texas by Birth" ? I've read those are covered under the extended warranty.. best be as that was part of the decision on buy the wife's car..
I'm probably stating something that is well known here, but just in case here goes: the convertible top is warrantied by Chrysler for 10 years. I just had mine replaced on my 2005 under warranty because the glass was falling out. Totally free by my local Chrysler dealer. Would have cost about $2600 otherwise.
Unfortunately, the top stopped working a couple of days ago. Still looking into the possible causes. Any insight anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

Try unlatching it first..
Okay..Okay.. going to have to give us more than this.. In what part of the sequence does it stop.. as in windows not going down or? Pizzaguy seems to be the great inside track on these. Several safety switches involved and the sequence to failure can help track the culprit..
Oh.. and that 10 yr warranty is dependent on where the mother ship dropped the car off.. for some ignorant reason..

It's not coded into the vin.. but Chrysler can pull it up by vin.. same as Carfax does. from the carfax on our roadster..

Here's the number for the Chrysler Convertible top warranty people: 800-247-9753
When I called them, they checked the VIN for all existing warranties. The top is warrantied for 10 years from date of purchase. They never asked or mentioned anything about location determining if the warranty applied. I think this is a national warranty that was added after the Crossfire Roadsters experienced so many identical problems of the rear window coming loose.
Anyway, don't pass up getting yours fixed under warranty. Good luck.

Regarding my top problem:
When unlatch the top and press the down switch, the windows go down, but nothing else happens.... except there is a beeping sound. I checked that the divider is in place. Haven't had a chance to check anything else.
Where are the hydraulic pumps located? Are the hydraulics self-contained, or is there a reservoir?
Thanks,
Gabby

. Now I do state this without "knowing" they changed the policy this week..

ala_xfire.. as you know I'm new to the roadster.. but shouldn't she hear the pump motor if the switches were okay?
Isn't the basic sequence: Release latch.. at which point that switch lowers the windows.. and when you push it up to the first position.. the switch over the passenger door and the switch in the divider tell the system green light for launch of pump activation which takes place when you push the button.. ?

Sounds fishy to me. In any case, call Chrysler at the number provided. They were courteous and helpful to me, and didn't try to weasel out of anything. Try it, you'll be glad you did.
Also, this is not an "Extended Warranty"....like those you have to pay for when the original warranty expires... like those from CarFax, etc. It is a no-cost Chrysler warranty. Chrysler did the right thing a few years back when they added this warranty because so many of the Crossfires were having the identical problem of the glass coming loose and/or falling out. They decided it was an obvious manufacturer's defect, and remedied the problem by adding the 10 year/100k warranty.
My 2005 was replaced totally free, with no hassle, by my local Chrysler dealer, 3 months ago.
Good luck.

Have you actually reviewed this thread? These are not that old of a post..
mine is a sky blue, 2005, with 75,000 miles. As I stated earlier I spoke with to customer service people (customer service ha ha) and one supervisor and my window has been denied. I admit I lovre car. I am going to try a 2 part adhesive. I will open top toexpose window seperation in corners, glue and close top which tightens the window. I don't want to clamp because that has to be done with the top open and I believe when it is closed it has a pulling presure on the corners.
Try calling Chrysler at this number 800-992-1997 if your car was originally sold in southeastern USA; otherwise, take it to a local reputable Chrysler dealer and ask for the Service Manager. My car was originally sold in northwest and not covered by extended warranty program and the service manager dealt with Chrysler and I paid a $200 co-pay for a new installed roof.
Chrysler replaced the entire roof. Apparently there was a warranty replacement issued for 2005 models in 5 southern states. For some reason, although my Crossfire was originally purchased in one of the qualifying states, for some reason my VIN number wasn't included. I had an extended Chrysler warranty that expired the week after the window fell out, but as it was, I was covered. My dealer was extremely supportive as were the people at Chrysler customer service. Good luck!
Rear window in my 2005 roadster has started to separate like so many others. Called Chrysler. Told nothing they could do as the vehicle is out of warranty (71k miles) and NO recalls have been issued not even in the southern states previously mentioned in this forum. I'm in Southern California.
Filed a complaint and went on to file a complaint with NHTSA. This IS a safety issue.
I will try to find someone to do the adhesive repair talked about here. The top itself is in GREAT shape.

GREAT THREAD
I am SO glad I ran across this thread. I went outside and checked my rear window and yep... its coming apart where the glass meets the fabric. I just contacted Chrysler support because when I called the dealer they had no idea about it, and they verified my VIN was under the extended warranty and that I would need to take it to a authorized dealer and pay the diagnostics fee in order for them to verify its covered. I sure hope its covered!!!

First of all, I'm a guy, not a she. Haven't any of you youngsters ever heard of the most famous western sidekick of all time?... Gabby Hayes. He's my idol, and role model. I want to be just like him when I grow up. You're durn tootin'! Yessiree Bob!
(You have to be old like me to get the joke.)
Second, I think it might be helpful to all of us if we could clear up whether ALL Roadsters are covered by the 10 yr warranty, or whether only certain regions/states are covered. Definitely nice to know since all Roadsters will have the problem eventually.
I called Chrysler yesterday to try to sort it out, but no go. They only deal with VIN numbers. She verified once again that mine was covered for another 29 months or 56000 miles. (As stated previously, I had mine replaced 3-4 months ago.)
FYI: My 2005 was sold originally in NC. I am 3rd owner and reside in Georgia. Had 43000 miles when warranty work was done in GA.
Here's what I propose: All Roadster owners call Chrysler at 800-247-9753 to see if their Roadster is covered. (Takes 5-7 min.) Then report the result back to us. Also tell us where your car was sold originally. Once we get enough info back, we'll know the full story on the 10year/100k top warranty.
Thanks,
Gabby

Tracked mine, came into port from Germany to Baltimore then to Detroit used for 5k miles as company car and then sold at Chrysler auction and spent the last 35k in Missouri where I purchased it.
Called about the warranty on the top and SOL since it was first registered in MI
I've got her glued tight and so far so good!
I also have her for sale!
Read my threads if interested

Good idea! Or take the time to read the thread..
Guess I'll make this the last post on the subject and quoting posts .. I already have a full time job.
I spent the morning investigating this warranty situation and got some clear and concise news on the deciding factor!
As posited in a couple of places on this forum My most helpfull Warranty Rep at Town and Country Chrysler Jeep Said, "X31 warranty extension covers 05 Crossfire convertibles shipped to Dealers in the Southern United States." Alabama, Texas, Florida, Georgia and most of those Hot sunny states. I forget the Whole list!
It had nothing to do with extended warrantys. Just the Initial Delivery Destination.
You're right MrMiata, you shouldn't have to answer every email. Afterall, you already have a full time job. So, you can stop that.
But, since you have all the answers concerning the top warranty, could you list which states are covered and which aren't. That would be valuable info for us all. Thanks.

All the answers.. no.. compiled a list for my purchase.. YES..
It's just been reminding me of the chicken little story lately.. "THE TOPS ARE FREE...THE TOPS ARE FREE"..
I guess your too busy to read through the thread and make your own list... and I'm only spoon feeding my grandson now a days.

Well hopefully anyone with any sense can piece together your information.. one solo NEW user vrs the forums and not actually "expect" a free top just because YOU say so..
And that's what I think.

And that's what I think.
Sigh...the back window came out of my 2007 last month. Chrysler has been slow walking me ever since. I got a call today saying they were not going to "participate" in fixing my top because I was not the original owner. My warranty was up in June. I bought the car with 7,000 miles on it. It now had 30,000 miles, is garage kept and hand washed....really Chrysler, you don't think there is a problem?
