Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
My top separated over the summer. Used gorilla glue to restick the window but it looks like crap. Car going in next Wednesday for various and sundry services and I have the max care 8/80 warrantly. I shall see if I can get a new top. I'd be amazed if I can.
My parents are 2005 original owners with a MaxCare, they BETTER be covered
I will let you know. Their top fell out almost 2 years ago (South Florida)

I spent the morning investigating this warranty situation and got some clear and concise news on the deciding factor!
As posited in a couple of places on this forum My most helpfull Warranty Rep at Town and Country Chrysler Jeep Said, "X31 warranty extension covers 05 Crossfire convertibles shipped to Dealers in the Southern United States." Alabama, Texas, Florida, Georgia and most of those Hot sunny states. I forget the Whole list!
It had nothing to do with extended warrantys. Just the Initial Delivery Destination.

BY the way, my letter just came today. So as it turns out I was just a few days ahead of the game when talking with my stealership last week.
The idea of the hot, sunny original delivery destination makes sense, but really sux for the guy bringing his Crossfire down from up North.

It also appears, according to the letter, that if you get this letter, and are having no problem with the adhesion "yet", there is no rush to have this done. I also would assume that this warranty extension is Vin # related, and therefore, would transfer with the car, to a new owner. (But that's just an assumption). So if you've recently purchased a roadster, call Chrysler to see if your vin # may be covered.
The 100,000 miles /10 Years is the Crux. and it must be broken or breaking.

I hope the dealerships replacing the tops do a good job. I wonder if they have any training / experience with convertable tops on Crossfires?
OK. I just got off the phone with "Chris" at Chrysler and was told that mine is NOT currently covered due to its original delivery area (Michigan). After I informed him that I bought the car at a Chrysler dealership in Columbus Georgia and it was there through the direct actions of Chrysler he agreed that it was worth bumping my eligibility issue up the chain of command. If it is, he said it would be considered a "Good Faith" application of Chryslers' goodwill.
He had not heard of this "X31" thing, but he would inform his supervisor to alert other phone jockeys how to handle these phone calls. So, it needs to be:
1) Southern states delivery.
2) Under original or Chrysler Extended Warranty
So far, that's all I know. Wish me luck! Oh-and he mentioned 120 months/ 100K miles.

I have a question:
now that they have aknowledged that the top and the glass will separate due to a manufacturing defect, how can they determine where the car has been for the last 6 years? If I bought my Crossfire in Maine and moved to Florida the next month, why should I be discriminated against?
There is nothing in the Owners Manual about "...and don't ever drive south of the Mason-Dixon line."
In my opinion, now that they have agreed to fix this problem, they have to fix ALL of the ones that fail.
Mine was brought in to an area of our great nation by them. And sold here by them. And was damaged due to this by them. Just because it was moved from one climate to another is no excuse.

I spent 30 minutes on the phone today with the Chrysler people and found out that it is vin specific to where the car was delivered from the factory. If your car came out of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee or Texas your car will be covered provided the vin matches. I live in Maryland and was delivered to a dealer in Maryland so I don't qualify. This sucks!!! It doesn't matter if you ever had a extended warranty or not or if you are not the original owner you can still qualify. I filed a complaint with them while I had them on the phone and received a case number but I don't think it will make a bit of a difference. I don't know why if everyone is having this problem in a lot of other states why where you live should make a difference. I've owned many cars in my time and have never had a window fall out of any of them so if you call them and get denied still wage a complaint so they get more people out of the qualified states. Doesn't make sense to me!!!
Mine was originally shipped to Arizona and has been here every since. Do they think it doesn't get hot here? If this isn't tied to an extended warranty that is still in place then I don't see how they can deny someone who lives in a hot climate and has a window falling out.
I just got home, have two letters from Chyrlser, one for each Roadster, telling me that my cars are covered.
I have no extended warranty and am the 3rd owner of the Gray one.

I also received my warranty extension letter in today's mail. That is welcome news since I have glued mine back in three times and it is not looking good.
I actually have a low mileage top on hand that I bought from a salvage house on eBay. I was just talking to a couple of local auto trim and upholstery shops last week about having it put on.
