I have noticed that when I'm putting the top down or up I have the same concern, the front portion of the top slaps down onto the frame. I have looked through all of the threads and do not see any comment on my concern. It started doing it just when I was putting the top up, especially if on a hill, at the point of the bonnet closing. Now when I put the top down it will slap down on the front and stop the completion, until I push the front up again. Does not matter if I am on a hill or flat ground.
Yea, there is a tension adjustment that can be made - unless the spring(s) have broken, in which case, you must replace it/them.
I will alert a couple of people who have dealt with this, hopefully they will chime in.

Thoughts??
I would check the tension cords that are located on each side and under the Top Pads (web straps). I suspect that one or both have broke. The tension cord has a coil spring on the front end, at the front bow frame, and then attaches to the backside of the first cross frame member. I believe the cord is prone to break by the cross frame member.
There's another cable (steel) that runs from the corner of the Front Bow frame to the second cross frame member and has a small coil spring on the back end. This cable runs inside a pocket on the side of the top. This cable also helps to hold the front section up. This cable is not likely to break, but maybe has come unattached from the front bow frame.

Reason: Addition of question.

I don't have a part number but I think this is a photo of what you're looking for. If this isn't the right cord, then I hope someone posts the correct one.
Also, this link gives you a great video on replacing the top. Around the 9 minute mark, I believe you can see the webbing. But watch the entire video. It's great.
I have to keep my hand on the top when raising or lowering the top. I have a broken cord and webbing on the passenger side. I can't see that it can be replaced/repaired without at least taking the leading edge of the top off. I'm still studying that. I think I'm missing the rear portion of the cord that is broken. I'm driving up to a wrench-a-part yard this week and try to get the cords off of a badly wrecked 2005.
Working on a different issue I found that end little piece in the trunk of my SRT and was wondering where it went so I need one for sure and any help would greatly be appreciated!
Keith, the photo you posted is of the cords that hold the top up. I think the proper term is detent cable. My left one was broken and when I folded the fabric back to get a look I found the plastic T shaped piece was broken. When I looked at the one on the right side I found that it was also broken and sometime in its life someone had installed an eyelet style electrical connector on the cable and riveted it in place. This is my blue limited, it’s a daily driver and we have had the car for four years, the top has been up and down a lot. Figured if it had lasted that long I might as well do the same repair to the left side, so I did, seems to be working fine. Also just finished replacing all the hydraulic cylinders, a big thanks to Top Hydraulics for the rebuilds.

The Tension Cords are not available but the Tension Cables are available from two sources.
ConvertibleTopGuys.com and Topsonline.com . I know of no one that has had the Cables break, only the shorter Cords.
Is there any way we could see the repair? Or have the part number of the detent cable if that is what it’s actual name is.
Sorry I didn’t take any photos when I made the repair. The top is all back together now. When I was trying to find replacements I got the part number from the parts manual in the documents section but there doesn’t seem to be any available, I searched quite a bit.

I contacted the ConvertibleTopGuys.com and will let you know what they say about our issue. Can you please tell me the part number for the bow tension cable.
Thanks
I recently purchased a blue convertible top for my 2006 Crossfire Roadster after the original tops glass detached from the material. My concern was having this window blow out while driving. It is this reason I chose to go with a replacement not a repair. I got my top from GAHH in Hollywood CA. They shipped it to a Pa shop who did the install for me. Williams Custom Tops. They were great. High praise awarded to GAHH by them for being a high quality top. Looks great and I couldn’t be happier.
