"New" & like new SRT6's are Disappearing on eBay, Autotrader & Cars.com

I made my claim ASAP prior to putting 1K miles on the car and the dealer said they would handle the claim.
My Michelin warranty also states I can take the car to any authorized Michelin dealer.
Do it before you rack up miles and they claim "road hazard".
Yes, they are disappearing. I contributed. I found mine on Autotrader. I got a graphite SRT6 coupe from Bohnam Chrysler in Texas.
Here are the details:
18 miles
Titled 3 months before I got it
80,000 mile warranty
Final price: $25,300

BTW, welcome to the club! Nice color choice!

Bonham sales people are bunch of d***heads! There are other crossfires from other dealerships that are much cheaper than what they have and are much more professional to deal with than Bonham!
You should see the bird poops in their crossfires!

Now now... We can't blame a company for trying to make a buck or a few bucks. I talked to them also and they would not budge at all on price, yet others seem to have gotten a great deal.
Just like any other new car some dealers deal others don't. I think they have a better handle on the market than any of the other dealers. They were the first to discount when more cars were available and now that cars are going fast they are holding to their asking price.
Either way it's better than the dealers here in Southern California. I went to 4 dealerships and none of them called me back to help get me a car - so mine will come from Florida with a $860 transportation fee and a $400 dealer fee that Calif. dealers don't charge. Of course if the car was in Ca. I'm sure they would have paid the $400 transportation so I guess that's a wash but the $860 I guess is the cost of getting the exact car/color I want
Again each dealer has the right to ask what they want.

I bought my SRT6 at Bonham and had a pretty good shopping experience. They didn't try to sell the car to me, which is what I prefer. They let me buy it! I don't understand how a lot of people can be upset over a company not wanting to budge on a car that was selling for $46-49K a few years ago. Even at the prices they are selling for today, you're still getting a great deal...especially if you plan to keep the car as I do.
I understand the concerns about the paint being exposed to the elements. When I bought my car they had at least 40-50 Crossfires total on the lot, so I can't blame them for not having every car in a showroom. The building is basically in a poor location right now. I say, if you had a bad experience there, take your business some place else. Yeah, that'll show'em!

Tom, I'm really satisfies with my SRT Coupe that I bought from you in August. The job I would like is delivering the Crossfires. Sounds like fun to me. Tell Charlie that I said hi.

Well, it is happening out here in the east as well. On 9/5/07 I posted that there were 33 SRT-6 within my area. Now there are only about 11, and none of them are "New". All of them have between 3,000-37,000 miles on them. Cheapest one was around $19,500. Highest one was about $33,000. Get them while you can. It looks like the party is over for the "new" ones.... I'm glad I got mine when I did. It was only 2 months ago, but I'm guessing I would have had to pay more if I waited.
Hey Blueaero, its Tod not Tom. Its ok I get that alot. I'm glad we were able to get you taken care of. Just put some Monster sale prices on our remaining inventory if you know anyone else looking.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
OK, here's the official breakdown of averages that I just figured out on my own from what is available around here.
I just searched out 300 miles with Autotrader.com and 250 miles with Cars.com and this is what I found. There were a total of 27 individual cars listed. I didn't count the ones that were listed on both sites.
Roadsters: 11
- Average Miles: 16,231
- Lowest Miles: 4,000
- Highest Miles: 34,000
- Average Price: $28,562.50
- Lowest Price: $26,899 (34,000 mi.)
- Highest Price: $31,990 (10,000 mi.)
NO "NEW" ONES LEFT
Coupes: 16
- Average Miles: 10,690
- Lowest Miles: 1,500
- Highest Miles: 37,000 ($30,000)
- Average Price: $27,040
- Lowest Price: $24,700 (4,000 mi.)
- Highest Price: $34,000 (1,500 mi.)
NO "NEW" ONES LEFT
So it would stand to reason that at least in my area they are becoming harder to find and the price is going up. Keep in mind, those were the average asking prices for USED ones with miles. Those averages are "Slightly" off as 4 of the cars didn't have prices listed, but we'll assume that they were not too far out of those ranges.

I bought mine in Austin for $1,500 less after driving there from Bonham. I was ready to buy a black SRT-6 with 12k miles from Bonham after talking with Mary about the car thru the phone. But when I got there, I learned from the disclosure that the car has been in a hail damaged and when I looked at the car it still has dings in the hood!
I tried to re-negotiate with the price since it should have depreciated more because of the hail damage history but they won't even lower their price. The sales rep then gave me to John (salesman of the year) to do the hustle with me. They're probably thinking that I'm trapped there after driving 21/2 hours from Tyler and will give up from their schemes. So, I called an Austin dealership and I asked them if they can bring their price down. The sales rep gave me a price $1,500 less than Bonham with 500 miles on it and $15,500 for my trade with the red blaze '04 Limited.
I have to drive for 4 hours to get to Austin on time but it's worth the drive! Heck, nobody pays me $1,500 in 4 hours of work anyway!

The only trouble I had with them was with warranty price-gouging and getting the car certified.
Certification - I was speaking with Salesman #1 over the phone for 2 weeks before I was able to drive 300+ miles to Bonham. In that time, NO ONE was able to give me a price (even approximate) to certify a SRT with under 100 miles. ??
So, against my better judgment, I decided to drive up there anyway and hope for the best. They did offer me a fair price on a blind appraisal, which they actually bumped $500 higher when I got there, to my surprise...and I wanted an SRT, so I went. However, I didn't want to mess with the Salesman #1 when I got there.
The first guy that came out at 9:01 am was the lucky guy. The New salesman I had handed me the keys to 12 different crossfires when I arrived(the ones available in the two colors I was undecided on). I basically told this guy that I had a poor experience over the phone with Salesman #1, and wanted someone new. He said he could help and he did. I also had my co-worker with me, and both of us were buying an SRT, weren't leaving without one! So, this guy had the opportunity to sell 2 cars without having to 'sell' anything. He handed us keys, said drive them all, bring me the stock # you want, and we'll get it going. That's exactly what we did....and that is the only way I can be 'sane' at a dealership. I HATE DEALERSHIPS!
I ruled out 6 of those cars due to minor parking lot door dings/scuffs, 2 of them due to flat tires or low tires, and 1 due to apparently having a window slightly down during a rainstorm.
The other 3 were all perfectly straight, no exterior issues that I couldn't fix with a microfiber rag and some polish. Out of those 3, 1 of them had a little more 'surface' rust on the bolt heads, more aluminum oxidation, and what not under the hood. The last two were both in great shape, one had nav and the other didn't. I got the one with Nav.
The salesman didn't speak with me at all until I told him the car I wanted. I also drove the final three and of the three, the one I got seemed a little quicker for whatever reason?? I didn't know it was 'the one' until this happened, as I didn't even realize it had Nav. I didn't see the Nav until the papers were signed and we were on our way home (5 hours) to San Antonio. I drove it, it felt quick, and I said 'that's the one!' lol
I was a little un-impressed with their lot and car appearances - but in their defense, that town was a Dust Bowl while we were there with a LOT of wind. They did have a few cars under trees...which is a no-no, but there was no more room. They should've moved some of the other used cars in that area...
I was also a bit upset with the finance guy. The rates they offered were lame, even with a 720+ credit score, due to '0' down and rolling a $1,000 negative from my trade. They said the book value of the car didn't meet the loan amount, which is BS and I showed him. I will end up re-financing this month with about 3 points lower interest at my local credit union.
He also tried to charge me for $3,995 on the 8/80 'wrap' warranty, which only cost $1,200+/- from chryslerservicecontracts.com . I called his bluff on that and it pissed him off. The Chryslerservicecontracts.com offers a 12 month no interest plan. IF YOU BOUGHT A SERVICE CONTRACT FROM THE DEALER RECENTLY, IT MAY BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO CANCEL IT AND BUY THE SAME ONE FROM CHRYSLERSERVICECONTRACTS.COM (or at LEAST check the price comparison!). I don't work for them, just know they are the most inexpensive I have found, and will likely save you compared to a dealer's price!
I saved myself $2,700/roughly $50 per month, because I knew better. Some people don't! My co-worker, who bought an SRT Roadster on the same day, didn't know better and paid the $3,995. Well, we had a HECK of a time getting them to Cancel it. We just finally got it done, and they are sending the rebate check to him as we speak(he paid cash for his car - must be nice!).
Anyhow - overall, they weren't that bad. I hate car dealerships with a passion, and I actually felt halfway decent leaving there. For once I left a stealership without wanting to hurt anyone.
I can't say the same for the dealership in Austin that I put a deposit on a car and had it sold out from under me...

For the record - there are 30+ SRT's available within 300 miles of me, and 25 of these are at Bonham/Greenville.
The most expensive is a Roadster with 3,800 miles, $29,995.
The least expensive is a coupe with 2,300 miles, $19,995. (but this is at a dealer which I feel is shady, and I would venture to guess that it may have been previously wrecked and/or may have a salvaged title). There is another one for $21,800 with 8K miles from a reputable dealer...
So, I guess our area is somewhat saturated compared to others. The Coupes from Bonham are all at $24,999 and all 'NEW', and the Roadsters are all at $29,995.

Bonhan is definitely a Dust Bowl. I'm still finding dust in random areas of my SRT6. I don't know what to say about finance, I financed mine at my credit union.
I was horribly discouraged by the dealership's appearance. They obviously cater to the "truck" crowd.
I ended up getting the graphite SRT6 with 18 miles for $25,000 after dealer fees and the 80,000 mile certification for $300. That's where things went downhill. They didn't even reset the "wrench" on my dash. It said -60 days. I wonder if they used the right amount/type of oil for the oil change. Other than them not knowing a thing about servicing Crossfires, I had a very positive experience overall. I liked both salesmen. No BS there.

Hey Shawn, all I can say is WOW. I feel its better to let a customer buy than be sold. There are different customers for different cars, but I would say 90% of Crossfire buyers aren't getting this for basic transportation. It’s a toy, and you can't sell something to someone that they don't need. For me a Crossfire would be the same as my C5 Corvette or Ducati 916. (I'm 6'5", I can drive my Fathers SRT-6 when I want, but could never own one) You don't need it, but you want it. It’s something that makes you smile just looking at it in the garage. High pressure has never worked for me or on me. As for the prices on the service contracts, that blows me away. How could a dealership be so stupid to think that in this day in age with the resources that we all have, that people wouldn't find out they had been taken advantage of?
If you guys wait a couple more years the SRT6 will be popping up all over the place and even cheaper than they are now. Yeah everyone keeps talking like it's a big collector car but that will only be true in 20 years. Drive em and have fun!
Most folks bought them thinking they are keepers, then they realize how useless and finicky the car really is, so then they buy a larger car or truck, and that’s when you swoop in for the kill.
You also have to be in decent shape to even sit in the car, another reason why people will be selling them at dirt cheap pricing, let them get a little fatter and weaker, you'll see srt's going for $10,000 in 2-4 years. I crying at the though of how much my limited will be worth, probably never worth enough to bother selling, lol.

My wife had just a Ford Focus with 120K miles. We bought a limited coupe for her as a 'fun' car, and then saw the price on the SRT's and traded it. This gives her a reliable daily driver (Focus) that gets almost 40 mpg, and a good enjoyable car when she wants to ride in a bit of luxury.
We aren't planning to have kids for another 4-5 years, which will allow us to have it paid off. By then, we'll need an SUV - but we should theoretically have a fairly low-mileage SRT in the garage, still under warranty, and paid for.
That's the plan at least, you never know what life will deal ya.

To finally get a price on the 'certification', I had to call their service department and ask a service writer what they charge themselves - how lame is that? The service manager knew the cost, but the salesman didn't...lol.
It is quite evident that most Chrysler employees do not want to mess with these cars, at all. Even most of the salesman. Ignorance is Bliss I suppose.
