If you're going to the dragon again, I'd love to hear it.

Hey guy I did the diy code 3 cai about a month ago. Today i took some temp of air entering thur code 3 mod. With 65 degree odat at 60 mph crusing was reading 80 at c3 intake ,and 85 in oem intake hose. So i found when using the c3 diy mod the oem intake hoses are for the most part not being used to supply air to engine the c3 cancels out the oem. Sounds very good , But what effect on performance . Also when idling in traffic 64 0dat 186 at c3 and 119 at oem hose. Tomorrow i am going to seal c3 mod and take more readings . I bet that air entering sc will be very close to odat.

Next thing would be to design a muscle-car-style cowl-induction hood or scoop to take advantage of the location of the air intake. Just don't make it look like one of those glass-hooded Mustangs!

SEAled c3 diy intake mod, 80 degree odat at 60mph had 82 to 85 degree entering intake. It appeared that the slower the speed the higher the intake temp . I was also thinking if the intake tubes are bigger this would result in the oda to move slower thur piping and have more time to absorb heat generated in engine compartment specially at lower rpms and lower speeds. Now i am going to take temp between motor and radiator to see what goes on temp wise with cai located there.

Sounds interesting!
How did you block off the factory inlets?

Did not seal off the the factory inlet tubes. Sealed up code 3 intake mode and now i am using the oem set up. I am going to disconnect 1 and or both of the oem inlet tubes an postion them where the aftermarket tubes and filter would be located, between rad and engine If this is going to be a cold air intake mod we need cold air. I am condersidering using a coolant type of device that the intake air will pass thur remove heat and reject to outside car. I am now trying to find out what temp would be best if it could be maintained within a specific range anyone know. Please chime in!

I did a Tighed1/ Code3 (sounds like a score) variation. I was worried about the air cleaning efficacy of that little green Code3 foam filter. After seeing the Tighed1's DIY job I added a single sheet of hepa filter on the outside of the foam. I lost a little of the scream but it's worth it to know I'm not sucking huge amounts of earth into my pricey AMG engine. Now I only suck in a little lol.

Can someone measure the distances of the screw holes?

Is that the best filter option? Is it safe? If it is i might end up doing this

I use green foam (Code 3) right behind the supercharger. It filters well but has to be cleaned and oiled often. Actually I see bigger holes in my K&N filter but the K&N can go much longer between cleanings. As far as the Hepa filters, I would imagine the same thing, change them often. Look on the throttle body side to see if the dirt is getting through. If it is come up with plan B before you ruin your cylinders.

P.S. The sound is awesome but you are sucking hot air. I use the Needswings type in the summer and the foam in the winter. It seems to have more grunt with the foam but maybe it just sounds faster.

Has anyone done this cowl induction yet? Or run a pipe up to the hood seal and remove the seal?

Question Re: DIY Performance Intake (Like Code 3's)

Did anyone just cut 2"- 3" of rubber out of the hood seal? Wouldn't this allow a little more air without too much weather getting in?
