2004 V8 6-speed
Been a while since an update so I figured I would check in. To all the people that have been messaging me so much about the swap, understand that this is a slow process. We aren't talking about a honda motor swap, I really wish it was that easy. The updates on this thread will be the important ones. I am still thinking of doing a brief How-To when I'm done so that people know what they will need and the basics behind the swap. Like I said before though, the swap is easy. Anyone with 20-40 hours, a friend and the parts can do it themselves except for the exhaust.
Now down to business. A couple ideas have been floated around a few countries and as it stands we are still working at a solution. There is another promising option that just came to light this morning so I will give it a shot as soon as I can. Unfortunately I lifted the pads on the board under the immo and have to repair them now. No biggie, just a minor inconvenience. Just goes to show that the "easy" way may not be the best way lol, aka avoid solder suckers and stick with wick.
We will get there though, we have all learned a lot recently. The problem is in the computers, It isn't a matter of unlocking, variant coding, and teach in of drive authorization. It isn't retaining the V6 immo data in the V8 ECU. Whatever it is will surface and I will fix it, it just a matter of time.

On a side note I'm a professional nerd but don't really have any experience with car programming. That being said if there is some technical stuff I could help with I would be more than happy to take a look for the good of the cause. Definitely looks like you got all the help needed but again if you would like even another set of eyes I'm willing.
Thanks for keeping at it!
Thanks for the updates as usual! Have been hoping there was some good news for you ( and the rest of us :P ) but I'm sure it will happen soon. This swap is my goal if you can figure a way to get it running.

You know honestly any help is appreciated. If someone can figure out what SMD (Surface mount device) the clutch switch runs to inside the ECU I think that would be helpful. The immo is not proving to be the problem, or at least not the entire problem.
Since the car starts and runs (like crap) with the V6 ECU I figured why not swap the immo so that it thinks it is still the V6... Didn't work. I tried unlocking and playing around in Developer with no luck as well.
There has to be a difference in the way each car starts (obviously) that we can't figure out. I automatically assumed that the immobilizer would be the problem, but maybe it's a SKREEM to ECU adaptation that needs to take place. Or it's just the damn clutch recognition.
I'm getting to the point where I wan't to take the extra chips controlling the coils and injectors and put them on the V6 board. Then get the mapping from the flash on the V8 and write it to the flash on the V6, or just swap the flash... The problem is what else would be affected or if it realizes the tampering and won't play ball.
She Cranks!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so I cheated. I did what Bob did and jumped the starter solenoid ground with a push button. I tried new Immo data from Karim and went into DAS, when I turned the ignition on I heard the fuel pump. I went and checked the fuel rail and sure enough there was fuel (fresh, I drain before I begin with each idea)...Not sure why she didn't start but it could be sensors and such. I will check diagnostics when I get home tonight and maybe pull the cam or crank sensor from the V6 and swap the V8's.
Also, this is a temporary fix btw. Apparently the shop that has Bob's old car right now in Phoenix claims they figured out the key/Cruise problem. Hopefully they will work with me and tell me the solution so that I can do it myself. I have not paid anyone for services regarding the swap yet and I do not plan to start. I have only picked a lot of smart brains. Not to be rude to anyone but this knowledge should be shared to this community and if I figure it out completely on my own then I know exactly what to tell people or help them with when it comes time for the next one

Lmao, I don't doubt it. I went into this build thinking a little too optimistic. It will get figured out and I'm getting closer but it's fighting me as much as possible.
Thanks for doing the legwork for the rest of us, with the other projects I Have going, it would take me years to get a V8 running...
We have all been there, and even though there are a few of these running around, you are still quite a trailblazer, especially to those of us that like to shift.

And no problem on the legwork. I just hope I can get it done and we can get some on the road
That would be nice! I'm hoping I can finish and explain it well enough that most can do it themselves. I already know of people that want me to do it for them and that's cool too. And like I said before the swap isnt hard it's just time consuming so I wouldn't charge near as much as people would think.
Good to hear the updates. Once you get the ECU problems figured out I will pick an engine up and pay you to handle the software side, which should be easy once you get the first one up and running. I can handle the mechanicals easy enough.
Lmao, if only.
As far as another update...
Not sure why I never thought about it but the Crankshaft Sensor needed to be replaced. The V8 apparently has less teeth than the Crossfire's flywheel. Because I was able to finally get a code to throw after cranking... Crankshaft Position Sensor... And what do ya know, that sucker was chewed and mangled on the end. Compared the 2 sensors and the V6's is shorter. Dropped the V6 one in and got through DAS but my battery didn't have enough juice to crank for more than 2 seconds. So everythings moving, it wasn't a completely pointless weekend. I do have one more idea to try that I have been putting off since it's such a pain but I'm pretty sure it will solve all the problems of this swap.

Sorry, updates should have been screaming this last weekend.
I was trying differnt chip ideas with the V6 ECU while I tried different coding ideas with the V8 ECU (I have a spare V8 ECU). Well I talked to Bob and the shop his old car is at (whole seperate discussion in itself), went out to my car and the V6 ECU was un-readable... Figured it was a connection problem on the board so I took the hardest swap I did off the board and mangled traces and pads all over the place. . . (insert face-palm here)... I got overwhelmed and decided to try some coding ideas and jumping the starter, that whole thing with the V8 ECU. So I plugged the ECU in and it didn't read. . . Had me freaked out for 2 days. I don't know why but I got a wild hair up my *** to try pushing on one of the connectors you have to modify, just to check connection and sure as **** the TB started actuating. . . . . . . (Huuuge face-palm insertion here)......
So basically, the car may have been running off the key had I checked connections rather than just started tearing the board apart. I will repair the traces and pads, put a new chip on, check the others and report back... Sorry guys.

Thanks, hopefully I will have some good news soon.
If I can jump the starter and drive it for now I will while I tinker with how to get it to start off the key.
