OK, That was a good description on how to replace the headlight. NOW a little tougher one!!! How do you replace the front marker lights in the upper right and left side of the headlight housing? I have lots of tools but nothing that will allow me to get into such a tight space. I though that maybe removing the whole headlight assembly might be easier but before I go that far what is your thought on it?
Long hemostat type grabbers or a long pair of needle nose pliers with a bend...
It is a ***** no matter how you do it, the right tool makes it possible though

I posted a HELP asking for ideas on replacing the "FRONT MARKER LIGHT" inside the headlight cluster.
Being the impatient person I am I found an easy way to replace the lights. Here is what I did, I'll add photos later.
I found that you cannot reach the socket by hand and I did not have long enough needle nose pliers. What I do have are lots of tools!!! as it turns out if you have a 10MM open end wrench that is at least 8" long you can reach under the metal bracket on front left and right side headlights with the open end wrench. It fits loosely over the socket, turn it 1/4 turn counter clockwise and it will pop right out. from there you can easily get to the light and replace it. Once you put the new bulb in the socket simply put it back in place and using the same wrench twist it clockwise 1/4 turn and your done.
This took me less that 5 minuets to replace both lights. Hope this helps someone else. These lights are a pain too get to.

Thanks to Muscle & everyone else....just changed driver's side....biggest problem was getting the socket off the bulb....God, I can't believe how much I had to pull on that to disconnect it!!! Used some grease when I connected the new one.
? Will I lose points at car shows if I leave a few inches of string hanging out ...still attached to the spring?

Sylvania xfe for 59.99 i thought id give them a try not too bad good peripheral output but as far as night time driving id do with the ultravision for a wider view
I have a 2005 Roadster and had the driver's side low beam burn out this week. I went through the step by step instructions and was able to change both the driver's side and passenger's side low beams (Sylvania Silverstar Ultra) in about 15 min total. The hardest part of the entire process was removing the plug from the light itself. It took some twisting and turning but came loose without a huge hassel. The passenger side was a bit more difficult to access, but was OK. My hands are not the size of an NFL lineman, so that helped.
My XFire has 60K miles at present. The bulbs that were in the car have lasted about 25K. I had both original headlight assemblies replaced under warranty at 35K due to hazing and spider cracks in the plastic covering. So, maybe it was easier for me to remove the plugs since the assemblies are not that old.
Bottom line... I am by no means a machanic. If I can do it, anyone in this forum can!

I put Ultras in and frankly could not see any difference between it and the OEM one that I mistakenly put back in instead of the new Ultra.
So I left the high beams with odd bulbs. I now have Osram 65 watt bulbs to put in when i can get the enthusiasm for the job, which may be a long time.

Great idea, I have to remember that.
Changed my driver side bulb ( 30.00 for bulb from chrysler dealer) today it was very easy if you follow above instructions THANK YOU! But if you have POLISH SAUSAGE size fingers or large HANDS its NOT going to be easy!
i kinow this is super late, (like almost 2 years later) but i a recent addition to the forum, and my headlight just went out the other day. i was terrified about replacing it because i had no clue about how. the post and step by step by muscle fan was awesome. i just did the dreaded repair after a quick search on the forum and finding the post. went from not knowing how to, to doing it in like 3 minutes. thanks so much. for a crossfire owner, this forum is invaluable. thanks again. anything i can contribute in the future, i will not hesitate.

Glad the forum info has helped you.
This is the best tool (not in your garage) that you can have.
This was super helpful. I have big hands and short sausage fingers but I was able to navigate by touch using the photos as reference. The spring was a snap. Thanks so much.
Next task....polish up the headlight lense.

Just replaced all 4 of my lights with H7's. Took about an hour or so to mess around with stuff and figure out what I was doing, but now that I have done it once it is really only a 5 minute job per bulb. Except passenger side high beam with the radiator overflow bottle in the way. I removed that so I could get to it.
When I went to drive the car I realized that the low beams were both pointing almost straight down and not projecting out on the road. I could not see anything. lol I just went out and adjusted them a little bit since they sit very loosely in the hole. I am surprised those clips are not tighter in order to hold the bulbs in place better. Anyone else notice this looseness? Maybe the previous owner bent mine a bit??
Thanks for the pics and discussion on this. I was terrified to tackle this at first with everyone posting their issues and complaints. I guess I am lucky that I have little nimble fingers.

The springs also hold the bulbs snugly. Maybe your spring is on backwards to cause the looseness, I think that has happened before.
Just easily changed out my headlight bulbs. Viewed MuscleFan's photo's and took OneHundred80's suggestion of grabing the terminals center H bridge with long nose pliers, then pulling free before removing the bulbs spring retaining clip. Before doing the replacement,Went to Harbor Freight to purchase 11" long 45degree and 90degree bent long nose pliers. Also a 2" telescoping spot mirror. No Problems..

Well, the passenger low beam went out about two weeks ago. I had bought a set of two bulbs last year wihen the driver side low went.
Last saturday morning, I thought it time to get on this frustrating job. I could NOT get the damn connector off the lamp, I SWEAR I was gonna pull the housing to pieces. So, after 40 minutes (ok, fine, maybe not that long - seemed like it), I worked the clip out of there and removed clip/bulb/connector as a unit.
I STILL had a hell of a time, ended up using a flat blade screwdriver to pry the lamp from the socket.
Anyway - THEN I struggled to get the cliip back where it goes. Finally, I read thru the thread and found the following post, from post 37:
I said to myself, "Not gonna help me - I have got to see what I am doing." So, I carried on for about 3 minutes. Then I heard myself, what I said to a young twerp at work about "listening to your elders", (this guy was arguing with another tech who is younger than I... but everyone is younger than I).
So, I said, "Fine", and tried for all of maybe 60 seconds - and the clip was on.
I had the bulb installed in another 1/2 minute!
You saved my a$$ that time, Dave. (But I'm still not listening to you about Lori.

Since I did this post I have found that the easiest way to put the spring back in place is to do it by feel alone.
You know what it looks like so with one fingertip on a hinge point you slide the end of the spring under your fingertip and feel it go into its position. Move your finger tip to the other hinge point and repeat.
No mirrors required just use your sense of feel, it works a treat.
