For You Gym Buffs
For those of you guys who are into weight training and supplements, here are two articles I found on two of the most popular supplements, whey protein and creatine. I knew vaguely what they did, but these articles go into depth explaining the exact function of each.

I have been lifting for about 5-6 years. Started at weighing in about 150 and now up to about 220. Creatine and protein (and food) are probably the most important supplements for lifting, but there are some other great ones out there. I am also a bodybuilding forum member and I have a client who is a huge supplement merchant (bestpricenutrition.com) so I test out a lot of new supplements when they come out.
Thanks for the info!

I do internet marketing and search engine optimization. For example if you had a company selling purple widgets, it's my job to have your site come up on the top of the results in Google, MSN and Yahoo for purple widgets. I also handle things like Google Adwords, Shopping.com, Amazon and other things.
~ i work out on a regular basis (4 days a week) but i'm in to the lean thing... 5' 7" 145 lbs.
i have been a gym guy for 15+ years.
i have tried the creatine route & seem to make me retaining a lot of water weight... i just stick to the high protein diet and a lower calorie intake.
works for me.

That's great there are a few of you here. I'm actually a personal trainer by profession as I finish up my last year of college with a degree in English. I have competed in bodybuilding shows in the past but currently all my efforts are towards pure strength training as I will return to competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a few months. If you guys are interested you should check out the small board I run:

There is a section for any aspect of training. We started not too long ago and are trying to get our name out there. Metacafe has helped. Here is our promotional video:

Maybe I'll see some of you over there!

Here is a question I'm glad you guys are on here I have been lifting for some years now and I wrestled in high school. I never messed with any supplements in high school but started to through college. I take CE2 its a rapid absorption ester creatine. I have noticed a significant difference in size and weight. The problem is it isn't lean muscle. I used to be 7% body fat some may say that's unhealthy for a guy, but I was at my peak fitness and felt great. I went from 165 to 180 almost over night kinda feeling with this creatine. I have taken 100% whey before and like it but haven't been as big. Now I'm dieting and working out with the supplement and tons of water but just can't seem to shake the love handles that i have. My question is if I start stacking the whey with the creatine will that help? Or what can I do? I mean I work my *** of to try and get back into shape and its just not happening. I'm blaming it on the pill cause I haven't really changed my eating habits before this. Let me know what you guys think.
First off, 7% is definitely healthy for a male. Now, the creatine isn't going to make you fat, per say. Alot of creatines that are ready to mix with water out of the tub contain significant amounts of sugar. While it is important to take creatine with some sugar (mixing pure creatine powder with 8oz of 100% fruit juice is a good idea), alot of those supplements have way too much. An example, Cell Tech has 72g of sugar per serving. You really only need 25-30g of sugar from pure fruit juice to mix with the creatine. Then, Cell Tech recommends more than one serving per day. That's an as*load of sugar! I would recommend you check the sugar content of your creatine supplement, as the creatine itself will not make you fat (though it may make you retain water).
