Acording to one of this guys here.....center face plate is just like $20.00 ...really good price...... I told him...I'll pay $40 each and get me 10 of them......he just got lost...bla...bla....

Betico, our impossible to build and never going to be finished center console is finally completed. I guess you were right about one thing though, it won't be cheap but you can't say we didn't try. What did you do, besides shoot your mouth off with nothing but negativity? STFU and go get a Corolla; those guys love to listen to each other p!ss and moan about how sh!tty their car is and how nobody does anything right.

For the rest of you, sorry it won't be something we can make affordably. There is just too much time involved doing something like this. Thanks for everyone's encouragement.

The triple gauge piece wasn't easy to build but even without it, it's not going to bring the cost down any considerable amount.

well everything has a price..... lets just say we missed the $600 by more then $1000 this is time, replacement center, materials, and 3 painters. Its not down to a science, it could be done again but no where near the $600 range everyone wanted or we originally thought. Too me it still seems like a pretty fair deal, Gators cost over $1500 for IMO less quality and buttons in the arm rest.

Do you guys know what type of plastic the factory bezel is made of?

 

i don't want to sound dumb, so i excuse myself if i do.. but "abs plastic" is stamped all on the console

 

I've never popped it off to look. I figured it was a simple question.

I've been reading at mp3car.com for a while about dash and bezel fabrication. Some of these guys use plastic welding with soldering iron looking tools, ABS cement, and ABS plastic parts they get at $1 store to modify the dash bezels. I think I'm going to give it a go for myself to modify my dash for double-din and moving the switches to replace the ash-tray and airbag light. I found a spare center tower dash piece and bezel at a local pick-a-part.

Does anyone know what the depth of the opening is? I mean what's the maximum depth a new double-din deck can be?
