Controller Anti-lock Brake
Hello,
I've just got back from round 2 a the stealership regarding my persistent BAS/ESP light. They believe the CAB Module needs to be replaced and have quoted me the equivalent of $1600 to do this!
They found a fault with the brake light switch circuit, but my brake lights work, so this was ruled out. The main fault is "no preloading of ESP" - which apparently is caused by a faulty CAB module
I called Mercedes with the part number displayed on the module and they couldnt find it on their systems.
I can see the unit is made by ATE and the part number on it seems to be in MB part no format: A193 545 01 32
Anyone else ever had to replace this or know where I can get hold of one of these modules?
Also could someone confirm I have the right part no?
UPDATE: Apparently the part no for the CAB for N/A models '05 onwards is A 193 545 05 32 - Now not sure if the previous part is superseded by this part no.
Anyone care to help?
Any help is greatly appreciated, as always.

I have managed to source a used CAB Module together with the ABS pump.
I have also determined a few facts regarding CAB part numbers:
The original- A 193 545 01 32 - This is Mopar: 05103480AA which rules to 05140827AA used in 04. Although the unit has a MB part no, MB do not recognise this any longer, this unit is obsolete and no longer produced!
The replacement- A 193 545 05 32 - This is Mopar: 05135427AA which rules to 05161125AA which in turn rules to 05161125AB used in 05 - 08.
The A 193 545 01 32 is prone to having issues and is virtually impossible to source as a new unit. I found a remanufactured one in Canada, but too expensive to ship.
There is currently a new A 193 545 05 32 on ebay going for less than $200, this a bargain as it is the CAB together with the ABS pump - for those of you that are stocking up on spares.
The one thing I am still uncertain of, is if it is possible to use the newer CAB modules on the older cars - not sure if they are backwards compatible. I seem to have answered most of my own questions on this - I will try to figure out the answer to this one too! I just hope this information is of some relevance to someone other than myself!

Audi will allow you to remove the ABS control module and still drive the car, albeit without ESP/ABS. Is the same true for the Crossfire? There are some shops that rebuild the controllers for a very reasonable price, but I am not sure they have the programs for our cars. Anyone know?
My BAS/ESP light is on all the time, so I went to the dealer. They said I have a bad CAB module. Do you guys know if I change the CAB module myself, will the BAS/ESP light reset, or will I have to take it to the dealer to have it reset?
I have a switch to bypass the Yaw module for autocrossing and it drives just fine, the BAS/ESP light is on until I switch it off and do a steering reset. If you have a friend to swap modules with for real trouble shooting - BEFORE you put big money into the parts, IMO. Woody
i have a question to add to this discussion. my 32 tends to stay in the garage. maybe a month before my 8 yr old oem battery died i would get the bas/esp light when i started to drive the car. turn off and restart and light goes out then comes back 3 times then stays out. replaced with shuriken battery and same thing! light comes on 3 times and then goes away.
any ideas?
any ideas?
Bill00,
The CAB is attached to the ABS Pump, and as such you will need to remove the ABS pump to change the CAB module. When doing this you should disconnect the battery. Once you have replaced the module and put everything back together again the light should go away by itself - well it did in my case. It wouldn't hurt to have an OBD II fault code reader/scanner around just in case.
Have you managed to source a new CAB module? There are usually some on Ebay, some are used and some are reconditioned.
32Krazy!,
Are you having any other issues when the BAS/ESP light comes on? When mine used to come on the Cruise Control and Traction Control did not work at all. There are so many darn sensors relative to that little BAS/ESP light, I tried all the easy stuff first, then I gave in and I took it to the Stealership to have the problems diagnosed.

I know this thread is 14yrs old but I am responding to make a piece of info known. In regards to:

You will find the newer model number listed for the 2004 but it will not work on the earlier 04's, maybe the newer. The A 193 545 01 32 in no way will interchange with the newer A 193 545 05 32 controller. The connectors are different and you would have to splice in the newer connector. Not a job I'd like to do. I have both in my possession because the net lead me to believe they interchange. They do not.

I am having issues with my A 193 545 05 32 Antilock Brake controller. This unit is sending 12 volts to the Yaw sensor on the CAN network. Has anyone found a rebuilder that can fix this unit?
