key in ing chime and door lock questions
Either Im getting feeble minded or just dont drive my xf enough but I seem to be noticing things that never bothered me before but now they some how seem to be a PITA.
First of all, I really dont remember turning the car off and hearing the key in ing chime go off until i pull the key out, Its annoying to be driving -stop and shut her down ot hear that anoying chime until I pull the key out...did I overlook this before?
Secondly, I could of sworn that before when I shut the car off and opened my door that the pass door and trunk unlocked at the same time. Now they stay locked until I hit unlock on the fob. They only thing Ive done to the car recently is pulled the door console out and then pulled the door latch/lock mech. Its back together except for the door panel is still off.

Pooly, mine chime only with the driver's door open and the key in the ignition. Also the doors and trunk unlock when the car is in park and I open the Driver's door.
The fob can be programed to open the drivers door only with one press and the passenger and trunk with two presses. Or, open all doors and the trunk with one press.
Instructions to change the programming you have now.
Press both lock and unlock buttons at the same time and hold them down until the red light at the top of the key fob blinks twice. Repeat this operation and the change to the programming is undone.

The fob works ok, its just that when I turn the car off the darn thing starts beeping at me and when I open my door to get out the trunk and pass door stay locked. Just thinking its because my door panel is still removed and something may not be connected for now.

My beeping only starts if when I open the door with the key in the ignition as Bluecoupe says above as well.

Thanks 180, I just tried that and all I get, on both fobs, is a quick barely visable flash right as soon as I press both keys. Also noticed my dome lights arnt coming on when unlocking car but they do work when I press their on button. BTW, both fobs are very functional and work from quite a ways away. All this started when they removed the door lock actuator. I'll search and poke around just as soon as this rain stops.

OK got the fob to flash twice. Still having issues though. Again when I shut car off it starts to beep at me (its supposed to do this when I open the door with key still in ing) The doors all stay locked even when I open my door the hatch and pas door stay locked, dome light doesnt fade out either. I read theres a chime generators located throught the car and one is in the door in close proximity to the latch/handle I just had issuse with last week.
Im thinking the door chime thingy is thinking my car door isnt closed or just messed up. I see where the vacum airline goes into the latch as well as some whires seem to plug into the top portion of the latch, by the door pin that pops up. I dont know what these wires do as the tech at work buttoned it all in when he fixed my lock/latch mechinism deep inside the whole latch assembly. Anyone whos taken one of these apart knows what I mean...its a metal roller that causes the door handle to shut after you open the door...mine was all jamed up and my door handle went inop due to this roller assembly located within the latch assembly.
So can anyone tell me what the afore mentoined wires to the latch are for?

The manual does mention wires to that area. These wires are not in Euro versions, but NA cars have them and are for "driver cylinder lock switch', but I cannot see them in the photo below.
Yes exactly. the door latch actuator on my n/a is behind a metal piece and the wiring to it goes in above the latch cable. Also the wires tee off from the airbag wirinng to the latch. Tomorrow we're taking the handles off for painting and I'll do some trouble shooting
when you put your door panel back on all will work ok the little screw on the cover by the door latch that is attached to the door actuates the door ajar switch.
of corse the bcm takes a while to recognise the door is open and turns on the dome lite open and close the door a few times after you put door panel back on and you will be fine. with out the little screw in, the bcm (body control module ) does not know the door is open and so it does not turn on dome lite

haha...thanks, I just finally got my butt off the couch and found the door agar switch...How did I ever miss that thing?! you are right, with the door panel pulled off the switch isnt getting pressed in all the way. I held it in and the dome light faded. Problem solved!!!!

With this molding off, as when the door panel is removed, the switch is not activated, the interior lights will switch off when the timing for them activates to save the battery.
Green-ghost, do you have the same layout as shown in my photo, or are more or less wires visible?
