Default 1rst Gear Issue/High RPM's

I recently bought a Xfire 2005 Coupe Baseline manual.

its it normal for this car to pull over 3500 RMP's to get a smooth 1rst gear shift?
the clutch feels very smooth, and 2nd,3rd to 6th gear have absolutely no issues, only 1rst gear is really hard when releasing the clutch slowly. sometimes i rather start with 2nd gear as it feels smoother and doesn't need high RPM's.

its annoying when the car is completely stopped as it will start stalling on 1rst gear with low RMP's.

suggestions?

I'm not sure that we're talking about the same thing, but the manual transmission is noted to feel "notchy" when shifting from first to second. Mine does, and I know that others have reported the same thing. Starting in 2nd does overcome this because of the close gear ratios, but it is a little harder on the clutch. You'll get used to it - I generally get rolling in first and then make an easy shift to second. Find what works best for you and go with it.

not exactly the same, although it does feel notchy when shifting from 1rs to 2nd, but im used to it.

my main problem is when releasing the clutch to get 1rst shift i have to put more than 3000 RPM's to fully release the clutch without making the engine stall.

Maybe someone else will chime in on this too - but it sounds like the car is starving for fuel in first or at low RPMs. This not a problem that I have, and I'm surprised that you're not throwing a code. It may be as simple as cleaning your MAF sensor. Do a google search for MAF cleaning - the sensor is delicate, but it's a simple enough job. I'd try that first - if it works then you've got it fixed. If not, then check for a code. Maybe you could get a code reader or have someone check it to see if there are any codes stored in the system.

Like John said, that is not normal at all. But I sure don't know what to suggest.

Are you saying you have to rev it to 3,000 just to get ROLLING? That would be, to me, an indication of the engine developing too little power.

I'd look at fuel pressure, MAF sensor, vacuum lines, etc.

Somethin' not right here!

yes pizzaguy, seems like while slowly releasing the clutch i need to press the accelerator up to 3000 RPM's to add more throttle, or else the car will start to stall.

i did a replacement of the MAF sensor yesterday, since i had the code showing up, now i have no engine light showing at all.

i can get the car rolling on 2nd gear from a complete stop much easier than 1rst gear, by not even reaching 3000 RPM's.

Hi Pizza guy, after doing a little more research i have found another guy had the same issue on a BMW M3, when the car is completely stopped and only to get it rolling on 1rst gear it would take him above 2k RPM's before the car would start to "stutter".
it was indeed some sort of loss of power. it ended up being the "motor mounts", after replacing them the problem was gone.

i might have them check as well.

i forgot to reply back on this.

it ended up to be the Clutch being worn out. i had to replace the clutch disc and pressure plate. its now running as smooth as new.
