Mis fire all cylinders
I'm new to forum and have been reading a bit. Basically cel was on but car ran fine...for a day or two. Turning off and back on smoothed it out a few times but now it is constant miss and seems to be running on 3-4 cylinders. Cel flashes on start up and then goes solid.Code shows p0301-p0306 so misfire on all cylinders. Replaced cps today and no improvement. Basic knowledge so what is next? I don't want to just randomly throw in parts like fuel pump and filter if not needed (which apparently I did with cps) but am willing to try some suggestions. No obvious vacuum leaks. 2005 6 speed convertible with 79000 miles.
I know this has been addressed, sorry but cps seemed most common fix. Hoping I missed something simple and easy

There was a girl here who had odd problems like this, she cleaned the MAF and fixed it. I don't remember the thread title, but some advice was given to her in that thread on how to clean. As I remember it, she cleaned it as she didn't want to wait for a new MAF, and her cleaning worked.
But I'lll never find the thread... One more thing, it is rare, but the CPS has caused trouble, the OTHER CPS: the CAM Position Sensor. Front of engine, on the left bank as you stand there looking at the engine.
Other than that, I got nothing. Have you checked the fuel pressure?

I hate to tell you this, but not all CPS are the same. Bosch is the best, but it does sound like a CPS problem. If you didn't use a Bosch part, I would try again...
One thing to try for the cam sensor is start the car up, unplug the cam sensor and take it for a drive. If it still misfires specific cylinders then it's not the cam sensor. With the cam sensor unplugged you will get "random misfire" P0300.
PIZZA is likely right. Classic MAF symptoms.
I have had it more than once, most recently on my last Tail of the Dragon run.
Easy fix for $140.00 with the core exchange.
And worth it because if wrong, you are gonna need that replacement sooner or later anyways. Just like with the CPS.

What is best way for fuel pressure check?
Thanks for replies and suggestions so far. I am sure one of these will work
LOL. I will NEVER live that down.
Nope, things got a little wet on I75 south of Lexington KY. Took some moisture into my CAI and the MAF was dirty. I had cleaned it but should have replaced it. We pulled off at a gas stop and it ran like crap for about ten minutes. Once the rain stopped and the MAF cleared, all was well.
The engine hiccupped every once in a while till I got back to St Louis. I changed it out and not a burp since.

Getting P0300 code now( along with cylinder specific codes). Does that mean cam sensor? Going to try MAF next. Then cam pos sensor. If that fails then Bosch crank position sensor to replace new one I just bought.

So misfiring on all cylinders plus random. Unplug cam sensor. Is it all the same? Misfire on specific cylinders and random or just random? Just random means the cam sensor is bad.
Check the MAF though, cause I've had that be the problem as well.
OK, so I am tackling the maf. Ordered one online but haven't got it yet. I did notice my coolant recovery tank is leaking. The plastic nipple fitting is cracked where the small hose goes in and looks like it was repaired at some point..unsuccessfully..This leak has basically sprayed the passenger side of the engine with coolant. Now for the dumb question. Can this be causing my misfire? Or screwing the sensors up? Am I at deeper issues than maf and cps? Coil packs got wet too, so?? I read a few posts with misfires in rainy conditions. Obviously the tank needs replacing but what other damage is possibly done?
thanks for any input

It wouldn't cause a misfire, and do NOT replace the tank. Going through the same issue myself with that and it was quite a lot of coolant spraying out at first... no misfire.
These engines run well in heavy rain. A lot of water splashing around in the engine bay....no missfire.
No, go back to your basics. Engine managment system. Bad processing or bad sensor inputs.

Might be a complete waste of time but check for a blockage in the air intake somewhere or the exhaust pipe. It costs nothing.
Maybe a 'buddy' has shoved a potato up the pipes.
I had snow up a tail pipe once, I backed into a snow bank, and the car ran like crap.

Thanks for all the help from everyone. MAF should be here this weekend..hope that is the misfire fix.
So don't replace tank? What did you do to solve yours? Brass insert someone suggested? Mine is spraying more than I thought or it just got worse recently. No puddle on the ground but solid misting all over right side of engine and coolant level low warning is on now. My daughter says she had her bf add fluid about 2-3 weeks ago. Doesn't know how much. Not driving it anymore until fixed so not a big issue.

I hope he used the correct antifreeze! Use the correct stuff. If he didn't flush and fill with the correct 50/50 asap!
Yea I figured that out after researching this problem. No clue what was used so I'll be flushing while I wait for maf to get here via snail mail. Better safe than sorry. Probably time to do it anyway. Lucky I have another vehicle.
Ok..New MAF, New CrankPS and CamPS, New fuel pump, new fuel filter. No vacuum leaks. No change. Still runs like its on 3-4 cylinders and codes missing on all cylinders. No light show in the dark with arcs of electric jumping from wires. Any last advise before I give up and get stealerized and financially ruined?? Reset computer but still missing on startup and threw codes within 30 seconds. What am I missing? Help

Thanks for any help

Thanks for any help
You are in Vegas? I will be there February 13th around 8-9pm. I'll have my star diagnostics system with me if you would like to get together. If none of those changed the issue then I'm at a loss. Have you checked your RCM?
