I would not think any programming is involved here, plug and play.

it should be plug and play, nothing to program. Do they even have the MB Diagnostic system?

I wonder if the invoice will come with a kiss. One would hope

you should have pulled it out of there before they did the work. It sounds like the work has now been completed, to late for buyers remorse,

I'm calling the mechanic now. I dropped the shift assembly off yesterday morning and it's 3pm in AZ and my car is still not ready. Something fishy is going on and I'm about to lose it. :-(

Just picked it up. 597.00 bill for replacing the negative wire to my battery and replacing the shift assembly.

However, as I was driving home I could hear what resembled a fan revving both while accelerating and in idle. When I got home, I popped the hood, turned off the ignition and waiting a couple minutes. When I re-started the car I watched the engine closely. After idling normal for 10-15 seconds the engine, belts, etc. began revving fast so I quickly turned them off. I also felt abnormally hot air from the vents while driving, even though the heat was off and the outside temp was 78 degrees.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I may have to return to the same mechanic tomorrow off hopefully an easy fix.

I need the connector as I pulled the console out a little too hard and broke the end off of the connector under the back end of the console

So the newest scam in 'auto repair', apparently, is "Programming".

Seems like, not a week goes by, that I hear (either here or on Faceboook) about how someone was charged both labor and "programming" for work on a car.

I ended up selling my Crossfire. There was only one certified Chrysler mechanic willing to work on it and he is a 30 min drive away. The dealership 5 min down the street refused to even look at it. $2800.00 in ultimate repair costs so I elected to move on after 12 years. Hated to do it but really had no choice.
