Finished the tri-fecta...called RennTech.

Doesn't seem true what was posted before. Same process as all the others. They said could be overwritten at dealer as well.

Said 10 - 14 HP at crank and 10 lb torque at crank.

No break on price, $995.

I almost went with the Upsolute. The problem with that one was that I had to drive to the guy's house and he would do it right there. I just wasn't comfortable with that type of service. Also there was a guy on these boards about a year or so ago that had his done by one of these backyard tuners and they ended up frying his whole ECU. He was able to get it covered under warrantee, but do you really need that hassle?

I've said it before, "you get what you pay for".

Thanks for doing all the leg work. These numbers seem the most realistic. Even if a higher rev limit doesn't show any improvement, I'd like the ability to go higher.

I would like to think that, because of there being some Competition between Ecu Tuners. That Renntech wouldn't want to be in the bid war and gain some New Cliental. I think if your going to charge 1000.00 for virtually the same thing as everyone else. You should at least get more for the money. I know for me, I Would only charge more, if you got more......., Maybe: Better materials, Bigger Capacities, or more power out put...Etc. You know something along those lines. I'll pay extra if I Super Sizing It!

I think I am going to go with Upsolute. I have been talking with Scott and they are going to do a new tune for me based on 93 octane as opposed to 91 which should be good for another 3 - 5 HP and TQ he said.

I should be going through with this next week.

I always found it to be a little strange as to why you would have to boost your Octane to 93-95 in order to run the performance product. If you ran 93 or 95, heck you would notice a difference in performance. I now understand it better having done the Dual Intake system. Because you can't really screw around with the timing and Air/Fuel ratio's. To help the cars ECU from going crazy I started running an octane booster that brought it up 4 points. So it became the equivalent of 95 octane. I'm running it this way, just to make it a little easier to swallow all that new found cold air.

If I have to add octane booster every tank, I'll pass on your intake!

No Dan, that was not why I mentioned it.

You DO NOT have to add octane booster. I was just saying, that I personally do it for myself. There is no need to add anything because of the intakes. You can run just the regular old 91 octane. I was commenting on the part of the request for 93/95 octane by these companies that remap ECU's. I was trying to express my understanding of why they do that. Sorry, if it came across as* backwards. It was late and I was tired...Sorry.

I just emailed upsolute about this,

Jeff, as with so many other things on forums, information gets
distorted. the chip is presently optimized for 93 octane, but will
function with 91. Those using 91 will obviously not get the full
benefits they would see if they were using 93. We have had a client
request a custom file along with other modifications he has done he
wanted something that would run exclusively on 94. We requested an air
/fuel; chart and can advance the timing slightly in his case because of
other mods/ ie full custom exhaust and intake CAI system.

Regards,
Rene

That is basically what they told me about changing the air/fuel timing. Though I was told the current chip was optimized for 91 which actually makes more sense since I believe other parts of the country do not even carry 93 or 94 like around the east coast.

Any thoughts on this?

I have a Upsolute. The guy came to my house. One of you stated, that a guy who used to post here, got his ECU fried. That was Bobafett. He stated, at the time that it was not Upsolute's fault but had to do with a advanced alarm system that he put in as an aftermarket. If fact he went back to Upsolute a few months later.

There was no increase to rpm and 155 limiter was not disengaged.

There is a noticeable power increase compared to stock in my option, as I did not have any dyno figures done but, it is most noticeable at 4000rpm to redline.

As a side note, I have always used super unleaded and have K&N replacement filters.
