Oil light on
I have been reluctant to ask questions lately but have run out of ideas on this. On my SRT coupe the oil light on th dash came on the last time I drove it. Pulling the dipstick it showed full, right at the top mark. I can’t get an oil level reading on the dash. I found two different sets of instructions between the forum and the manuals, tried both, no luck. I can’t make it work on the blue roadster either so I guess that is an operator problem. I decided to suck out a half quart of oil and the dipstick now shows half way between the two marks but the oil light still comes on. There are no codes and it takes 25 seconds after starting for the light to come on. The car has 30k miles and the oil has 2700 miles on it. Any suggestions?
My first thought is to change the oil &filter. Then check the old filter for any issues. If that doesn't solve the issue, you will need to find out where you can get a good oil pressure reading with a mechanical gauge.

I have been reading thru the service manual and it appears the light comes on when the oil level drops below 4.25 liters. Other oil issues related to temp or pressure set DTCs but they can’t be read with generic readers. Now, does anyone know if the level sensor for the light is the same sensor that is inside the pan?
Can't offer specific sensor info but being a long time motor head , if the oil pressure is dangerously low , the engines main reciprocating parts will "rattle" when warm at or around idle . Like when you first start it cold before oil pressure builds .
If this is not happening , I would suggest a sensor related problem .
I really dislike the cold startup RPM level of my 06 coupe which I consider to be in excellent condition . It quickly dies down in seconds but that first burst of non pressurized high RPM rattle is NOT a good thing , but I don't know how to adjust it yet so I'm not going to play with it . I know it is supposedly an emission help to cold cats so they heat up quicker & is utilized on most vehicles now days .

Take a look at these past threads. There are old timers here who have answered the same questions so many times that I'm sure they are getting tired of it...but it sure helps me to learn.

Thanks for all the info. I’m sure there is not a pressure problem and from what I can tell the light has nothing to do with pressure. The car has only moved about a hundred miles in the last year and that was to a body shop for paint work. Took three trips to get everything correct. The oil doesn’t have many miles but is almost 2 1/2 years old, so I’ll do an oil and filter change, put some miles on it and if it is still on I’ll get out the ohm meter. Don’t look forward to dropping the pan. It might be a bit before I get back with the results. I’m in the middle of projects on the other two. Thanks for all the input.
I was having an issue with mine to. When I changed the oil and before i added oil i turned the key to on and waited until the oil info screen flashed saying over 2 quarts low or something. I then turned the key off and filled the oil to the correct level. This seemed to reset the sensor at least for level.. .

There is no monitoring of oil pressure in the M112 engine.
Go ahead, try to prove me wrong - I'm not wrong. All we have is a LEVEL sensor, and it seems to be a common failure item.
(Idle pressure with 0W40 at full operating temperature is specified as "at least three pounds", that aint much.)
