Squeal from front of engine?
Have some squeling coming from front of engine.
2005 SRT6 46k miles.
I suppose it could be a belt or bearing?
Noticed it right after I had to gun it.
Can hear it when in idle as well and changes when reving.
Made me think as well, should I be doing some proactive maintenance with this many years on the vehicle?
I suppose do the items in the owners manual such as spark plugs, coolant, fuel filter, etc. which I guess should have been done every 4 to 5 years according to the manual?

The damn belt tensioner is a noisy devil right before it dies on the N/A but not sure about the SRT version. IN any case, you have something belt driven causing this, it's nothing new and is usually easy to determine. Just don't let it go, it's cheaper to "shotgun" a tensioner, pulley and belt than to let real damage happen .
Eventually, an SRT guy will see your post and give you better information than us N/A guys.

Spark plugs are good for some more years, fuel filter should still be fine. Look at the belt and check all the bearings on all the pulleys, water pump, idlers etc. You have just a few more miles than mine and I have just changed the belt, more for its age than anything else.

sounds like a bad pulley bearing. narrow down which pulley it is and we can send you a replacement pulley, or replacement bearing, or convert you to our pulley saver kit which eliminates the failure prone factory idler pulleys all together.
Thanks for input everyone. The squeal is now gone, so it is hard to specifically diagnose. As I said earlier, it came on after gunning it to get out into traffic. The squeal was consistently there for about a week, but silent now.
I will probably go the pully saver route, but not get to it until my brother in law is around sometime to help install it.

My squeal was the water pump
Had Rudy put a new one on last summer
I already had a new idler pulley and the tensioner pulley was fine

Do not take "no noise" now as a good thing. Most of the time it's the bearings in either the idler pulley or the supercharger pulley itself.
THey will stop making noise sometimes before they fail but if you already had that whistling/squeaking noise you can be sure something is not right even if it went away temporarily.
Those two pulleys cause major damage when they grenade. I would not let it get that far. Also, if belt is worn it's time for a new one.
Take off the belt and spin ALL pulleys by hand one at a time. They are supposed to spin freely without rubbing, making any loud noises or wobbling.
You can also make a car "stethoscope" to listen to the pulleys (long screw driver or breaker bar etc). For instructions how to use that and what to listen to with the stethoscope watch the video here
.But whatever you do, I wouldn't just disregard. Not sure how many miles on your car but especially the idler pulley fails quite commonly. They are not strong enough and made out of plastic while holding a majority of the strain. There is improved idler pulleys and also the pulley saver kit Needswings offers, which eliminates that issue. If it's your Supercharger pulley, you can replace the bearing which is easy and cheap. When that one grenades it's thousands of dollars potentially of damage. Are you using a an aftermarket supercharger pulley?
