Hi all,
I'm in a large parking lot and when I came to pick up my SRT6, the fob will not operate the central lock system. I think the fob batteries are good. When I turn the key in ignition, the dash lights work, also radio and climate fans, but engine does not crank. A few times it started a relay that flashed the corner lights for a couple of minutes. Three or four attempts caused the engine to crank for about one second without catching.
I removed the RCM and looked at the solder connections. They look to be very bright and solid, but I have no way of checking.
No tools on hand, and I'm 165 miles from home.
Any advice?
Update: Tried one more time and it started and is running with a slow, rough idle, about 500 rpm.
Ideas welcome.
Should I try to make the drive home?
My first guess would be the RCM, do you carry a spare as is recommended? Second could be a failing battery. Do you carry a scanner with you to check for codes?

Thanks for your answer, I think you're right about the RCM. Your definitely right that I need to carry some basics and a small tool kit. I'm going on a trip tomorrow, I'll try to figure this out next week. I'll probably order a replacement RCM while I'm away so I can hit the ground running when I return.

Go to an auto parts store and see if you can get a relay control module.
You don't need any tools to replace the RCM. Also, you don't have to disconnect the battery.
Here's how to replace it: LINK - Relay Control Module Replacement

Thanks.
I'll have to deal with it next week, will try to hunt down a module while I'm away. I did take out the one in the car and it looked quite shiny and new, so I'm wondering if it was already replaced once.
Thanks.

You can get one try it. If it solves your problem keep it. You can return it, but I would recommend keeping it a spare.
Also, once you get back, if you can make it to an auto parts store have them use a scanner on your car. If the scanner doesn't read it as a Crossfire, use a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG for the scan.

Update, here's a mugshot of the culprits. The relay on the right is just a little degraded if you look closely. Obviously the other one caused the no-start.
I have a new module on the way, and I'll tune this one up and keep it in the car.
Thanks everyone for the help!

If you haven't already, email me at tighed1@hotmail.com for the info on getting your RCM rebuilt.
For a third of the price of a new RCM I can rebuild your current RCM to BETTER than new condition!
I replace the relays, redo the poor solder joints AND add the Me So Horny mod. Can't get that on a new RCM!!
If the RCM your ordered turns out to be the JD-192Z version (it suks) Squeeze the pins together a bit. This will provide a better connection as the pins are skinnier than original RCM pins and don't make good contact causing issues.
