STANDARD PROCEDURE - TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING

The Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter(s) can be programmed by the customer without special tools.
PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

Transmitter programming by the customer is done by performing the following steps:
  1. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
  2. Press either the lock or unlock button momentarily twice.
Turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position within 30 seconds.

Hope this is useful and saves you $100.

Shawn

God Bless. Shawn, thank you for not being selfish, but instead sharing your info with other Crossfire owners. Again, that was a very nice thing to do for others. Way to MAN-UP!

These instructions are in the owners manuals of every car, and have therefore been available since 2003.
No man up required from anybody just the ability to read your manual. There is a lot to be learned in these manuals, so get one from this site as a PDF and get reading.

OK so to be complete you need four things in a complete fob:
1) Case. $6 on ebay with uncut key
2) Key: included in case, most locksmiths can cut.
3) Circuit Board. Does remoter lock/unlock/panic requires battery. Can program on car.Range up to about 30 ft.
4) RFID chip. Used by SKREEM to permit car to start. Special program required. Range: an inch or two.

So the only real issue is the RFID chip that is present in the fob and the valet key. To replace the SKREEM, you must program the SKREEM to both the VIN and the RFID keys. if the SKREEM is working, can you just clone the RFID chip ? YWTK.

I have some RFID chips coming in. What tool (preferably PC based) is required to read from one RFID chip and copy to another ?

"An inch or two".. mine slipped back in the new case about 1/4 inch on my first transplant.. 2 no starts and I was back in the house looking to see what was up. And good luck on the "reader - programmer".. I spent an evening with Google and Mercedes based groups looking for a path.

I have never seen a valet key or read about one in any manual. What gives?

It was a new key fob, with a blank key that I had cut. I followed the steps and it did not work. Just to clear thins up for me when you press the unlock button do you do it with the key in the ignition ? Then turn the key to the run position ?

The chip has to be the one from your old key or an identically programmed one.
The chip from another car will not work in your car, for security reasons.

One may be a little cheaper from Needswings? You can not just buy a key on E-bay. They are programmed for your car only.

What is not true, please explain to what you are referring to.
If you do not quote the post you are referring to only you know what could be in errror.
Many people do this and others cannot understand the reply.

If you buy a used keu/fob get the vin the key/fob came from call chrysler dealer give them both vins theu will beable to tell you if it is compatible for your car and can be reprogrammed to your car. If so buy a new blank key and they can lazer cut the new key for your car.

Yes, they can laser cut the key - and that will unlock and lock the door, you can even program the lock/unlock buttons to your car.
But you cannot program the RFID chip to your SKREEM, therefore, the car will not start and run.
