Default Coolant Reservoir Removal

Ok.. I tried the search function.. No luck.. I'm trying to remove the coolant reservoir enough to get it out of the way of the Passenger Side High Beam Headlight... I need to replace the bulb...

I removed the two nuts that appear to hold the tank in place, but it won't budge. There is a Post on the bottom with a grommet.

Does the tank simply pull off of the grommet? or is there a trick I haven't discovered yet? I've pulled on it hard enough that I'm afraid I'll break the tank... Any help?

Thanks

I never figured it out. Ended up changing the bulb with it in place.
Not easy, but it can be done. I also find that cutting the webbing between the two electrical terminals makes it easier - that way, you can remove ONE terminal at a time.

Use small, sharp diagonal cutters and just cut the material between the contacts. Look at the drivers' side light to understand where and what to cut.

Yea it is... I used the old addage, "If it won't move force it... If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway..."

It came off, the headlights changed.. a little WD40 to get it back on.. slid right together like it was supposed to...

Thanks guys for the Reply... Crisis Averted... LMAO

It pulls off the gromet. I would try spraying a little lubricant on it if possible. At this age it is probably i bit brittle. I might even buy a spare, just in case.

Spray WD-40 at the grommet under neath the reservoir. Then wiggle it so that the oil seeps into the grommet. Then pull straight up while wiggling the reservoir.
I had a tough time with mine, but eventually it came out.

I also did this recently and it was a b*tch. Ended up breaking part of one the tabs. Probably should have sprayed some WD on there like people are saying 😑
