The expansion tank in my SRT6 broke the connection port on the top of the tank.
This is a common problem I believe.
The connection port is fragile and made worse by the hose connection being un-supported, placing stress on the nipple
See Photo
I replaced the tank with a new tank from the states.
To remove the chance that the connection could be damaged in future, I made up a support bracket to take any strain.
I glued a section of Polymer to the tank with two machine screws set in the Polymer.
These screws bolted a section of aluminium right angle in place, which supports a P clip
The tank in the picture in the last photo has nearly 2” too much coolant in it. The correct level is flush with the white finned pillar you can see aft of the fill hole. This is a out level with the bottom of the black plastic top of the tank. The extra coolant will blow out and could make a nice mess.

This description didn't make sense until I took off the tank's cap.
As you can see in the photo my coolant was low.
Thanks to onehundred80 I could determine how much coolant to add. Shame on Chrysler for not mentioning this fill level "pillar" in the owner's or service manuals.
Thanks for the great idea about supporting the expansion tank connection. I have the same problem, but have not been able to find a replacement tank for my SRT^ anywhere. I've ordered to that supposedly had the correct part no. 1705000549, but they were both wrong Where did you find your replacement tank (either new or used!). Thanks

Thanks, but even when you enter the car as being a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 they say the part won't fit. That has happened to me three times! Thank you for your help and I will call them.

Your car is basically a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 320 or SLK 32 AMG. Almost all of the parts are Made by Mercedes.

The correct Mercedes number for the SRT6 is 170 500 05 49, it has one extra hose on the bottom.
The correct number for the LIMITED (non supercharged Crossfire) is 170 500 03 49.
I isolated my intercooler from the cars cooling system on my SRT6 and installed the LIMITED's reservoir tank because it makes a cleaner installation. I have no need for the additional hose on the bottom of the tank with the isolation set up I made.
@Dschnbgr Here is a way to repair your tank. Many have made this repair and it worked fine for them. I tried it with not much success as it started to leak again. If I attempted it again I would try super clue on the fitting to try and bind it to the plastic on the tank. Click the Link ~
