Default Going to Dealer, What Do I Tell Them?

I plan on calling my dealer today to set up a oil change and get a few things done. First of all. Do I have to go to the dealership where i bought my car, or any Chrysler dealer. I need to get my oil changed. Replace foglights (chrome piece fell off). Fix hatch rattle. Fix radio/CD (plays static when on CD alot). So how do i go about getting them to fix these things. I know the CD isn't a TSB, and i have a warranty i bought bumper to bumper to cover it. Is it free to get the TSB's fixed? What exactly do i have to tell them. And will i need to request a fleece MB oil filter?

Cool Re: Going to Dealer, What Do I Tell Them?

What I would do is print out the TSB list that is posted here on this forum and take it with you, the Service Writer/ Manager will know that you are Educated about our cars as you know most of them are not. The dealer you purchased your car from may have a great sales team, but their service may just suck. It may be a crap shoot until you can find a Service Dept and Tech that you can trust. Just take your car to any Dealer and let them know what is wrong with the car, and more importantly make sure they have a CERTIFIED XFire Tech on site. Also before your car goes in do like I do, take pictures/video of your car before and after the Service is done. I am very lucky to have 2 great dealers with 2 Great Certified Techs in my local area, and they are a Father and Son team also one them owns a XFire.

Hope this helps.

So are the TSB fixed free? if not how much would i expect to pay for my fog lights to get replaced because the chrome piece fell off? I can fix the hatch rattle myself. Also anyone know how long i should expect this to take? I would think i can go in for a oil change, and get them to order the CD player, and foglights, and they can fix my rattle when i go back to have them installed.

I believe TSB's are fixed for free.

How many miles on your XFire?

Your car still being under warranty determines what is fixed at no charge to you, not a TSB.

Getting your car fixed for free has nothing to do with a TSB. A TSB s not a recall, which is a free repair. A recall may have a TSB
to aid the tech on how to correct a problem and what parts are needed.

A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin, which provides a tech information on a specific issue that may need special instructions to aid
in the repair. It can range from serious issues to cosmetic care... i.e. transmission pops out of first gear or something as simple as
how to clean chrome wheels.

Knowing about TSB's on your car helps you know if the dealer is pulling the wool over your eyes and shows them you are
a knowledgeable consumer.

Some advice... never walk into a dealership and tell them something is wrong and has a TSB on it. Simply tell them what is wrong
with your car and listen to what they say. Then and if you think you are getting a run around, ask, "what about TSB # --- which
you think may or may not cover the problem. No one likes a not-it-all, you are not the mechanic and just like doctors, they do not like
it when you self diagnose a problem.

8,700. But since it was built in '03, my 3/36 is done. But i have a aftermarket warranty i bought, and that will cover anything if needed, but its more work and i gotta file some paperwork.

I went in for two of the same things you went in for, an oil change, to replace the fog lamps because the silver cap came off, and also to replace the lamp holder above the license plate, because it is tripping the lamp out indicator on the dash. The fog lamps were replaced under warranty, and of course I paid for the oil change. The first two items it took the dealership two days to do, (I did have a rental at least), I am still waiting for the lamp holder for the license plate light. So I think you are at least looking at least 1-2 days.

I figured they will have to order the lights, and the CD player. So i think i can just tell them what i need, or have them take a look at it while i'm there changing my oil. Then when the parts come in they can call me back in.
