total bs
I also find it funny how some of us are down on Bionic for doing 55 over when in another thread we're trying to help someone else do twice the speedlimit. We're all such hypocrites
bottom line, is, many of us play, and know the risks that go along with it... Just need to stay alert...especially with those sneeky hiding places we cops like to find...lol....

According to my conscience (aka, the wife) I always drive to fast. But I invested in a good radar detector years ago and keep it on whenever I am on the highway, even when doing the speed limit. I generally drive 74-78 when the limit is 70, unless there is traffic in which case I match the higher flow. I always signal and do the "move over" if anything is on the right shoulder. Every once in a while, on a wide open road with lots of forward visibility, I crank the Crossfires or the Audi A6 to 100+ with the clear recognition that instant on will nail me. So I tend to follow fast bear bait, lagging a quarter mile, and wait for radar to paint them. I failed to follow my own advice in TX this past Saturday and became one of the few drivers to be ticketed for 75 in a 70 (in most of TX, that would be obstructing traffic), but he turned around and followed me to be sure I was out-of-state before burning me. I'm just glad the few times I drove my roadster to 140, my SRT6 to 150, and my A6 to 150 there were no enforcers of the law around. If there had been, I'd be writing this on the jailhouse library computer.
I just read through this post and I couldnt agree more with the majority. You take the chance you pay the dance. I am 20 years old and havent had a single ticket in 3 years come the 17th of this month. I have had this car for about 6 months and occassionally push it, but I am more the kind of person to accelerate quick to the speed limit. California is crazy about cracking down on racers or people pushing the limits so I decide to just bypass that noise.
p.s. with tickits, insurance= $275 a month!!!
no tickets= $92 a month... and Im a male, 20 years old!! something to think about.

I wish the cops would concentrate on ticketing the pinheads too busy talking on their cellphones and weaving in their lanes and leave the minor speeding violators that have both hands on the wheel and aware of their surroundings alone. Who is more dangerous?
10-4............problem is, my fellow officers are doing the same damn thing...using the computer, talking on the phone, while answering radio traffic....go figure.... different generation....
Guess you could drop a V-8 in one! LOL.. Think my wife is just waiting for the day I come home with a free ticket to go see the judge..

With collision coverage added, it would have cost me $126.66 per month.
And remember, those were "1970" Dollars!!
This thread really caught my eye. Just a few weeks back I was traveling on one of my favorite back roads. It's very smooth and virtually empty. Well, I was feeling a little bored and decided, (as I often do on this road), to venture into the triple digits. I passed a couple of cars at a buck ten, when lo' and behold, there sat a full grown on the side of the road. I wasn't aware he was a highway patrolman till I went by him at eighty. I always slow for breakdowns. Well, he pulled me over and asked me that age old question. Do you know why I pulled you over? I of course turned turned immediately into Forest Gump. No sir, I have no idea. I was just running. He said that I was doing 108, held at 108 for awhile then slowed to 80. I then quickly turned into the rain man. No sir, I'm a very good driver. I was doing 70 then slowed to 60 when I saw a car on the side broke down. I'm a very good driver... Well your speedometer must be off, have you changed tire sizes recently. I beamed, (Thanks Rudy), that yes I had. He went back to his cruiser, came back with the dreaded manilla 4X10 card I have become much to familiar with. He told me he was cutting me a break due to my having a CDL. I recieved a ticket for, (drum roll please), 65 in a 55 Mph zone. He told me I should check my speedometer sometime, wear your seatbelt, and have a good day. My only complaint would be the cost of $143.00 for ten over. It seems like a lot. But tons better than what I damn well deserved!!!
You want to drive track speeds? Take it to the track. The fastest speed limit I've seen in Maryland is 65. I've done 80 in a 65 at most. Would never do triple digits off the track. I've got too much too lose, i.e., my life.
I despise artificially low speed limits that are used as speed traps. We have a few around here, and the county, the city, and the transport police have a biweekly rotation going. I'm thinking of a stretch of 7 lane state highway that skirts the jetport and does not have a single driveway or intersection for 1.5 miles ... and is posted at 40 mph. Typical traffic consists of clusters of 5 to 10 cars at 30 second intervals, so its not especially busy.
If I were King I would decree that fines and property confiscations should go to the general fund and not to the law enforcement coffers. Enforcement activities should not be driven by the profit motive. Those who have the legal use of force against us should not be using the public as an income stream for their department.

I don't usually read postings on traffic tickets; it just makes me wonder how some people can even find their way home after work. Nevertheless, Here are some quotes from my CHP days in South LA....."You just stopped me cause I'm driving a Corvette(Porsche)(Mercedes)(Cadillac)(red car)(silver car)(fast car)...and one that I often heard in upscale areas. "You just stopped me cause I have an expensive car and you can't afford one".
Here's a fact. Cops look at cars. Some cars attract more attention than others. Some for their appearance, some for the way they're being driven. Calling your car a "cop magnet" is a puny excuse for getting a ticket.
Years ago, one of my motor partners working the I-405 spotted a "plain Jane" car driving about 75 MPH tailgating another car at about 10 feet in the Number 1 lane. He pulls the guy over who tells him "I'm Mickey Thompson, and I'm a professional racer". My buddy replys, "Maybe so, but I bet that guy you were tailgating isn't".

Like I said.... My experience with cops in Texas tell me our cars are cop magnets. There is no reason you should have gotten a ticket for doing 75 in a 70. Not in Texas!
