Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
5x054311 is qualified for warranty replacement of the conv top!!!!!!!!!!! first time i called was denied....second time was approved.....calling dealer tomorrow...ill post how it works out!
When you say replacing the top, do you mean the cloth and all or just the back window? Because I've already received a letter from local dealer on the back window issue extended warranty but my top on my car is still in almost mint condition. Beads water as if we're a coupe!!
but if they owe me a top then by all means I will get it repaired before the back glass does start coming loose. I have a 2005 limited roadster classic yellow with approximately 32,300 miles so should I just wait since its in such good condition??

I had the whole top replaced before that extended warranty came out but Chrysler reimbursed me. My top looked great as well but one day the window just fell right out with no warning (I hadnt even noticed the glue was seperating). All it took was one really hot day. I tried to have the window itself glued back on but that only lasted a couple of weeks. I had to have the entire top replaced. My advice would be to get your new top as soon as you can before that offer runs out. (I think I remember reading something about that offer being good for only a certain amount of time.)
Good Luck!

Well, I broke down and called Chrysler...tried to contact the lady that was mentioned early in this thread, but couldn't get her on the phone. Ended up talking to a guy named Chris, who was most helpful, and provided some interesting information.
I did mention the X31 program and the TSB that relates to the top for the 2005 cars. He said that it was the first time he had spoken to a Crossfire owner!
What he told me was, if I remember correctly, was that the warranty on the car could only be extended a couple of years, as well as another extension. Never mentioned whether the car was eligible for either program.
He did tell me that I could open a complaint, because of the age, mileage, and number of previous owners (one of the interesting tidbits: We are the 4th owners, in contradiction to what AutoCheck said), we would not be eligible for the top replacement. The VIN on our car is 5X057541.
He did set up a case, and case number...said if I did not hear from someone within a business day, I probably wouldn't hear from anyone.
Interesting...I will take this as far as I have to...may even post something on getsatisfaction.com if Chrysler won't take care of this. I mean, it isn't like I didn't buy this from a Chrysler dealer.

Got a call this afternoon from Chrysler, to ask me to take my car to the nearest stealership and have the service manager verify and document the issue. I was assigned a case manager, Genevieve, and a case number. I am going to try to get my car over before next Tuesday, but we're taking a road trip this weekend! First one!
I finally took the car to Gossett Chrysler in Memphis Friday. Took about thirty minutes to get pictures taken and the information Chrysler requires submitted. That during lunch hour.
Today the service department called me. "Approved as expected. We have the top in stock." I explained that I'd be travelling next week; fly out SAT and back in next THUR. They offered to take the car, take me to the airport, and pick me up with the car ready if I'd call when I get back on the ground.
Next week I'll be able to update. For now, if I buy new Chrysler product, it will be from Gossett in Memphis!

Called Chrysler yesterday and opened a case. I was informed my VIN did not have the X31 Extended warranty attached to it. She did state she wanted to open a case because a lot of others are having the same issue as me. Worth a shot if I get a new top out of the deal. I live in MI. Anyone else try this from MI?
thanks!!!
thanks!!!
Took my car to the stealership on Tuesday...talked to my case manager immediately afterward, and was told that I should have a decision in the next 24 hours...called her yesterday and left a message. Still in limbo. I will be giving her a call today!
Got a call from Chrysler...they said it would "not be a good business decision" to replace the top on our car...guess I'm climbing the ladder....
Well, late last week I wrote a letter to the CEO of Chrysler. Got an e-mail yesterday from a rep at Chrysler (Top Care Team Leader) that said I should be contacted within two business days. I got a call today from a guy named Jay, who was not the friendliest of people. He said that he had looked over my case and that the first rep, Genevieve, made the correct call. I pointed out that the car came with a plastic window, and the car was sold from a conglomerate that had a Chrysler franchise. I also pointed out that even though the car was not delivered in Texas, that is where it spent most of its life. He agreed with the last point, but said that the car did not qualify on the X31, and since there is no recall, there would not overturn Genevieve's decision. I even asked him if he wouldn't do it as a 'goodwill' gesture...no go.
He made the point that we, being the fourth owners of the car, also eliminated us from coverage. Is that really germane?
So, basically, no replacement for me as of yet. Is there any motion on getting Chrysler to recall for that issue?
I may write another letter...

Just wanted to correct that I'm the 3rd owner and I bought it from my father n law and the warranty they had on it,nothing to do with the top was transferable one time which I went ahead and paid for. Powertrain etc... But I don't know if I can call Chrysler directly and get a claim number or does it have to tore up and I pay to get replaced and they reimburse??? Very confusing after reading all these posts. Thanks again
They are not supposed to replace it, unless it is damaged. You have two choices.
1. Help it along by breaking the bond on the window, then get it fixed for free.
2. Use it until you have two months left on the program (9 years 10 months) and then get it fixed. I'll be getting mine fixed next month as the window is not bonded on the top seam.

Brought my Crossfire in to my local Chrysler dealership last Thursday. Dealer agreed that top needed replacement but informed me that Chrysler would pay for 100% of the top but only part of the labor since the dealership couldn't do the work and would have to get a rag-top shop to do the install. They told me I would have to pay around $300. I called the Chrysler customer care line and talked to a representative. She started a new case for me and said they would call me back within 24 hours. They called me back the next day and agreed to cover 100% of the top AND the labor. ZERO cost to me. My new top is now on order and I will bring it in for the work when the top comes in. So far, so good. Chrysler seems to be standing by its commitments.

In Fact Today My Window Got Lose And Now What Am I Going To Do? Mine Is 2006 And I Live In Miami Fl, My Car Was Standing In The Sun And The Heat Just Melted Down The Glue. Has Anyone The Chrysler Service Number Where I Can Call And Complain About This? Should I Mention The 2005 Gratis Repair Thing?
My top started coming apart yesterday so I got on this forum for info. Emailed Chrysler last night, my letter from them was in my email today. I have to drive 100 miles to the nearest dealer so they are going to go ahead and order my new top so I just have to make one trip. Thanks guys for the wonderful information!!!
