Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
they replaced my moulding and messed it up now my door won't close right and the top leaks. i have shown it to the dealer, am waiting for an appt to get it fixed, been a few weeks already
Takled to the installer today. It's the first Crossfire top for him. Says it's simpler than he thought it was going to be. Waiting on parts for the next 5 days. I'll post the results after completion. I felt better about the job after talking to the guy.
I got a note from my guy at the BBB...contacting them and creating a complaint will not work:
Secondly, I don’t think we are going to be able to do anything for you regarding your car. It appears to be a policy issue with the manufacturer. The BBB up there has made a determination and we can’t override that even if we wanted to. I asked around a bit and most of the feedback has been along the line of a class action suit or something similar. What would happen if we were the BBB for that area is that the manufacturer would just play a “this is our policy” game and keep it going for such a long time that it would not be worth pursuing any more. Unfortunately, big companies like that can stretch these things out for a very long time. I really wish we could help but this is a bit beyond us.

Had the top replaced today, had some issues with the install, gaskets out of place, rear strap cut in half on one side etc.. The new rear glass is stamped Mopar. Anyone out there willing to take a look at their OEM top and let me know if this is the same? I though Kane had posted that his new top was from Karmann, just like our OEM top. If I remember, the rear glass on the OEM was not stamped Mopar.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I can take a look, as the WHOLE window just fell out of mine yesterday, came out from having lunch, and it was lying on the body !
Checked it out before we went out and no signs of it separating. Of course mine was shipped to PA, and even tho it was first registered in Texas, and has spent it's whole life in Texas, it is not covered under the extended warranty ............I need to talk to Chrysler on Tuesday !
The glass has the name Pilkington on it, plus the Chrysler (Mopar ?) logo, the star inside the pentagon,

my molding kit got messed up too. they told me i have to pay for the new molding,. my car is leaking since the new top was put on.
It will be three weeks on Thursday. All parts are in. Five different molding pieces needed to be replaced. Hopefully it won't leak. Free loaner car for three weeks.

what's to see ? ..............the top is on the car, the window is in the trunk .......
was this a hoax i called that number and it is a non working number and the Chrysler site says there are no recalls for my vehicle so what gives?
SORRY but I could not disaree with you more. As this car has only 7800 genuine miles on the clock, AND has always been garaged, PROVES that this IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT, and was NOT just because of the Humid heat of TEXAS (considered by Chrysler as a southern state in their current claim consideration). This was clearly NOT a prolonged heat affected issue, but a breakdown of the adhesive over an extended period of time, although the final falling out of this window was probably due to heat, MUST have been well broken down prior to this. I would also say that this just MAY be the car that changes the situation in the decision process for Chrysler. This could be a REAL basis of a " Class Action Suit" against Chrysler, if it is refused. ?? Anyone got any comments to make on my statement. ???

No need to disagree with me...it seems that all of the roadsters should be included, regardless of the mileage. What I was saying is that Chrysler would probably turn you down, at least initially, as was my experience, along with a great many others. As I've stated before, they are not consistent with how they're honoring this service bulletin... A class action suit might be the only answer.
Beware the TSB is only on certain 2005 crossfires delivered to southern states only, Florida, Alabama, Texas, but nothing North of the Carolina's. Mine was delivered to Virginia and as of now will not cover it.
my new top was originally turned down because it was not originally delivered to Florida, it came here after a few thousand miles. they finally replaced the top but the molding got messed up in the installation and Chrysler has opened a new case for me to help me get that fixed. they have been most helpful. it just took some perseverance on my part in the beginning, i got many turn downs at first.
If anyone is interested, I know an attorney who may be will to bring this to a class action suit, Also please contact the NTSB about this dangerous problem. The BBB in Michigan is sponsored by Chrysler so you probably can't count on them. I am also going to the news/media to see if they will run a story.

Well they took photo's on Saturday, supposedly uploaded them to Chrysler yesterday, just waiting on a call from 'Annie' to see what the decision will be..................
