I'm liking my WaveTrac better as I'm starting to get more used to it. Had a Pontiac G8 GXP on my back bumper so close I was waiting on him to start pushing me at any moment. Once we hit the twistes,I saw him way back in the rear view mirror going sideways, hands all over the steering wheel trying to save his car. I think my SRT-6 with the check engine light on is ready for a tune. Squirrel Crusher
ok i have a problem and need some help!! the front bolt that holds the diff up . on jhm2k's car theres no play at all. on mine theres at least 1/2" to 1" of play were i can push the front of the diff up and down. i tried jacking the diff up and retightening the bolt but its tight and when released the play returns. does anyone have a foto of the front mount bolt and the way the washers and rubber bushing install? i feel like something is missing and need to figure it out so i can get an alignment and learn all the new mods on the car
Sounds like it's to late for you now,but Bobby at CINMOTORSPORTS.COM has figured out how to take out our pumpkin and reinstall it without ever messing with any of the elignment. No elignment necessary using his method! I have no idea how he does it,but he said he did take pictures. Squirrel Crusher

Steve, that is one thing I am not so sure about....is alignment. I think I will have them both checked if I have the time before Woodward...maybe my son can take them in...while I am on the road. Although, I don't think a 600 mile round trip would be that bad on them....I could do it later once Woodward is over....what do you think? It handled just fine, but that doesn't mean anything...

you prolly wont have any issues for woodward but you know once the tires start to cup they go fast
yeah, I know that....I think I will do it after Woodward, I am out of time here. I leave Tues, and won't get home until late Friday night...5 hr drive to Detroit Saturday morning...too many things to do and no time lately. They will be done for the Dragon, one way or another...lol...we are getting close. I look at the diff for rotation as well, and I think my mechanic and I have an idea...which I may send to MikeR...if we go that route. I need someone to machine what we will need...you can improve your 60' sometimes by getting that axle rotation down to nothing....
Steve... I went out and jacked up mine and here is a pic of the differential front mount.....
Is it possible that you stuck the wrong bolt in there and it is too long and bottoming out on the frame??? Just ideas...

Steve, finally got a look tonight. The way my mechanic did the rear, the alignment wasn't even touched. He really didn't have any problems at all with the install....this coupe is insane with A/S radials on it....they aren't going to last long....I didn't do the resonator delete this evening, I am going to do a new muffler instead...need to do some looking...Roadster was a piece of cake after the coupe...I feel like I now own two new cars...they finally behave the way they should....loving it...back to modding again....thank you guys for the wavetrac....nice piece of work...
OK, my mechanic can't seem to figure out how to get my diff out. I gave him directions from the shop manual, from the forum, and from Rob. But he's not clear how to get it done. That amazes me, since he's a one-man-shop that has been successful for 30 years.
Anyway... I suggested to him that I might be able to put him in touch with someone that's already done it - maybe even done more than one.
Any volunteers who want to talk to my mechanic? Please PM me and we'll make arrangements.
THANKS!

tom theres a thread on the forum that describs how to remove the diff. thats the way i did it but it seems theres more than 1 way. docs mechanic didnt need to realign and i do so maybe they can help . its really not that hard to do if you dont lose spacers and such like i did !!
Tom... If your mechanic can't figure it out... go somewhere else. I got my diff out of the car in the driveway without taking off any tires or suspension bolts. And this was my first rear diff with independent suspension.
No reason a "mechanic" should have any problems.

Hey Steve, can you link to that thread you mentioned? I did some searching but I'm not finding anything worthwhile.
@Beaner: I agree. There's no reason he should have problems, but he is anyway. I know he's a good mechanic. Heck he's build 700hp drag cars from the ground up. I think the problem is that he is a "by the book" kinda guy and is an old-school MOPAR guy. When he sees foreign cars, I think his blood pressure goes up and he gets a mental block.
I wish I hadn't taken it to him. But he's a friend and I don't want to insult him by pulling it out from under him now. Heck, if I had a lift, I'm sure I could get it out. I've always been good at taking things apart. It's the putting-back-together part that troubles me.
@Doc: the only thing keeping me from having you do it is the 7 hour one-way commute! Let me know if you have a run out my way and an empty trailer going back. I'll put the XF in there and you can call me to come get it!

just remember tom this way requires a realignment. docs way and woodys way doesnt. this was the first instructions i found and it wworks for me. side note. watch for all the washers and spacers in the front diff bolt. when i was dropping the rear all the front stuff fell out and i didnt see the order. now im missing a spacer and the kit is 76$ so i had to buy it so the diff is held correctly.
you will have to put the car in nuetral to get the 3rd driveshaft bolt out also. and i had a dickens of a time getting the axles to pop out. tore up the seals but was replacing them anyway

In a way, I'm glad to have the stub axle setup... much easier to R&R the diff. Hopefully, mine will be at the post office when I return home on Monday! Been watching Nürburgring videos and can't wait to go and give it a try!
I also got a "Dear John" call while on this deployment... so I now have a $7000 1ct. platinum engagement ring up for sale if anyone is interested. Pending it's proper return...
