*Needed* 20 to Pre-order Wavetrac LSD for SLK32/SRT-6
What's interesting is how stable it feels. I can launch harder, corner faster and hit slaloms faster.
It's not twitchy and the rear hasn't come around yet.

I'll get to see your improved times Steve, but also look forward to hearing from OleDoc and others that frequent the strip for their new/improved E.T.'s

After 8 greuling hours in the garage today, my Wavetrac is finally installed! I forgot what a pain (literally) it is to R&R the diff and exhaust by myself...
Also I'm glad that I ordered the forward and aft flex disks and center support bearing, all 3 had fatigue cracks. Now I just need some new tires! I also just bought a KMAC rear camber kit. I'm tired of wearing out the inner edge of the tires WAY before the rest.
As far as the stub axle "fix" for us early SLK32 guys, I'm not trilled with the solution. But I guess as long as it holds, it ok. There is a little slop with the stub (in/out). Not much, but not nice and snug like the factory clip. We shall see...

both cars handle so much better...they had their maiden voyage up to Detroit and back without a hitch...at the least the rearends did...lol... Racing is on hold for now, as I need to catch the dude that bashed my door, but once that is settled, off to the track for some times....then, on to hooking my coupe on "meth"...then....more tuning, more track time...gauges have to happen in there somewhere...lol...but the crash, has everything on hold...I have $1K deductable...sucks...
What happened to your door, Doc?
Well, I'm picking up my XF from the mechanic who did nothing for a month. WTF?!? This seems to be a theme with mechanic for me. So... now where do I take it?
Anyone know a good mechanic with XF experience in Western PA or NE Ohio?

Well... there's hope! I found a local mechanic that specializes in foreign cars, and he personally drives a Mercedes. When I asked him about removing the diff, he said "Sure. No problem." with a look on his face like I just asked him if he could change the oil. I'm hoping that's a good sign. LOL
He did ask me why I wanted to do it though. But as soon as I mentioned drag racing, he laughed and said, nevermind. He didn't think anyone raced Crossfires. But then again, he didn't know a Crossfire was 99% Mercedes until I told him. He doesn't like working on domestic cars.
He also said he has a good guy that could install the wavetrack for me and save me the shipping and the wait time... I'm tempted... but I like the idea of the warranty...
What do you guys think about the warranty?

It's just 8 hrs over here TOM....lol.... You know how picky I am...these babies perform beautifully now...I'm loving it... car is torn apart at the body shop...makes me sick to look at it...but, I know they will make it new again...bring that car over here and lets get the diff in...
UPDATE: When I said "my install was a pain", that was a slight understatement.
According to my Doc today, I apparently cracked a rib just below my collarbone when I had the dif on my chest... damn I'm fragile! lol
Happy racing my friends!

Buggin, that truly IS a pain! Sheesh.
As for the warranty, I'm starting to think that the timing may force my hand. I want it done in time to at least get a couple nights at the track with it this season. AND I'd like to bring it to the Dragon... and shipping it to Cali and back will take two weeks...

If it works out, you'll see the XF at the Dragon... if it doesn't, you'll see the MINI.

But, I'm damn sure not missing the Dragon!

Well, the first side of my diff looked pretty good. You can see a little bit of warp next to the central pin.

It was chewing its way through! I wasn't even close to going all the way through, but I'm glad I wasn't racing on it all summer.
It is finally on its way to Unitrax now... FINALLY!

Woah Tom, you caught it just in time! I bet there a lot of people happy that they went to the Wavetrac, just to eliminate this problem alone...
Just got a call from Devin. He says that my bearing are shot and need replaced.
Does anyone know how much that should cost? They say they've never done bearings on this model of diff, so they couldn't tell me how much it would be without doing some research.
