Seat Adjustment Controls
I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem, both the controls on the passenger and driver side seats seem completely dead but seem to work on rare occasion. It doesn't make any sense to me and I can't seem to locate any prior threads on the topic but maybe someone here has some experience...
See this thread that includes info on seat adjustments. They operate with the drivers door open, but not with the door closed unless the the ignition is turned on!

I dont think thats his problem.
I am having the same probem the internals of the switch get all f**ked up.
I have had to repair them on a number of occasions, I have even canibalized the insides of the passenger switch.

This would make the statement (high lighted in red) in the 2004 Shop Manual wrong.
Excerpt from Shop Manual;
'The driver side power seat switches are operational with the driver door open, regardless of the ignition switch key position. If the driver door is closed, the ignition switch key must be turned to the ON/RUN position. See the owner’s manual in the glove box for more information.'
The owners manual offers no insight into this matter. I have not tried to open the door while the car is in motion to test if the seat can be adjusted as this could get dangerous.
This reminds me of an incident with my mother in a car, I told her that her door was not closed as we were driving, she went to open it and re-shut it as I slowed for a curve. The big door, on a '65 Mercury two door, swung open, instinctively she held onto the door handle, if it was not for the lap belt she would have gone out of the door at highway speed. Accelerating out of the curve the door closed and my mother still hanging onto the door was pushed back. What would I have told the police? sounds like the movie with (I think) Danny DeVito and Arnold S. 'Push my Momma from the train. please'.
Has anyone figured this out? My Crossfire is doing the same thing. Both seats are dead. I checked the fuses and tried to trace the wires to see if one was cut, but I could not make heads or tails of all that spaghetti. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Door open door closed I know how that works, our problem has nothing to do with that.
To get the switch to work I have to remove it from the trim panel. The internals of the switch wear out prematurely.
I have disassemble the switch and rebuilt it from internals from the passenger seat, which does not use the height adjustment.
I just figured someone else had the issue and found a solution. I have considered rewiring it to use double throw momentary switches if I can find one that are small enough and can handle the amperage.

Mine only work with the doors open....glad to know they weren't designed this way. Honestly I saw this as another one of those glorious impracticalities that make the Crossfire so great!
None the less, I am going to check into the relay.

Oh, and it was "Throw mamma from the train", one of the few movies I'v seen in 20 years that was worth watching. Devito makes a good oddball on screen - very believeable.

OPERATION
The power seat lower switch adjusts the bottom portion of the seat forward and backward as well as tilting upward and downward both in the front and rear when the switch is pressed in that direction. The back portion of the seat reclines when the power seat rear switch is tilted forward or rearward. The driver side power seat switches areoperational with the driver door open, regardless of the ignition switch key position. If the driver door is closed, the ignition switch key must be turned to the ON/RUN position. See the owner’s manual in the glove box for more information.
This car must follow the rules of many countries, maybe in some countries you cannot adjust the seat while the car is in motion. Imagine if the seat forward button jammed as you were moving the seat forward, you would end up squashed against the steering wheel.
On the power seat wiring schematic I cannot find where the door pillar switch comes into the picture, but my seats only operate with the door open with the ignition On or OFF. The statement from the shop manual outlined in red is wrong on my vehicle. The door ajar switch appears to cut off the power to the power seat relay. With the door on the first latch the seat adjustments will operate, which proves the door ajar switch works.

That does make sense, now I have got to try it for myself, but I was SURE I had moved the seat around while driving - it took me almost two weeks to figure out how to be comfortable AND be able to see at the same time.
(Nothing new, I was like that with my pickup when it was new as well.)

For those who have had this problem, can you direct me to the seat switch relay? I believe I have the same problem. All of the sudden, my driver seat switches are dead. Fuses are fine and the plugs look ok under the seat. I'm thinking it is the door relay. Anyone?
that would be where I would start...we are opening and closing that door all the time, exposed to weather, cleaners...I am always careful not to spray cleaners near switches and such...it funny with electronics, how sensitive they are to list bit of corrosion, either lose ground, or contact, but I will leave that to the electrical engineers on here..
