Thanks guys! I am sometimes guilty of trying too many fixes at the same time. On the RCM, I had nothing to magnify it with, so I didn't see cracks. The center connection looked a little bit discolored but just slightly. I added a dab of solder to each as they did look like they needed it. I'm a rookie with solder but I don't think (hope) I screwed it up. I then drove it about 45 miles doing errands with no trouble, before the crank with: no start, 2 days later.
OOOOOPS about the carb cleaner. I think I read that as a way to check for fuel getting to the engine. Hope I didn't mess something else up. There was no hint of starting, turn the key/release, starter cranks engine for about 4 seconds. I then checked the fuel line by touching the Schrader valve at the connection. There seemed to be good pressure, by the spray.
So I'm back to thinking ignition/spark. Hope to have the Bosch CPS in a few days. Local Stealer wanted $239 & have it next day!?! I will refrain from giving them any business if at all possible.
No check engine light. A friend may be over to connect his code reader in a couple of days. I'll be back soon.
Thank you very much.

Check the Fuel Pump Relay on backside of RCM for burnt contacts. You may be able to file the points to make work....

That noise from the box the RCM in is most likely the little vent fan at the bottom, it draws cabin air in to vent the modules. It also keeps the box under slight air pressure to keep dust out.

Start with a real BOSCH CPS and go from there - the generics have caused all sorts of headaches - yet, some other people can put them in and htey work - sounds like loose tolerances on the generic items to me.

Best to put a slight twist to the two pins in the generics, they are made of thinner material than the Bosch ones therefore don't make as good a contact with the harness pins.

Thanks, everyone! I will look at/try these suggestions. I don't have much confidence in the Napa CPS now (made in Taiwan). Should have Bosch soon. Mrs. going out of town next week, so it must be reliable or my a$$ is burnt grass!?! I'm hoping that because it started & ran fine the day I did the solder, that I didn't mess that up.

UPDATE: Put new Bosch crank sensor in last night, fired right up (check eng. light finally came on but after a short test drive, went off). Realized I broke connector clip first time, in the parking lot change, MY BAD! Wrapped a little double stick tape around top of sensor, then pushed connector on. Also wedged piece of rubber between it and the heat shield to help secure it.
Have not re-checked for burnt relays yet, but nothing caught my eye, when I did the solder. More test driving needed, but hoping all is back to normal. Part thru Amazon $39 + tax.
THANKS TO ALL!!!

Quick question, is it better to be proactive on the CPS or reactive? Not sure if mine is original as I'm the 3rd owner. I plan a 3000 miles round trip this summer, and really don't want to have to worry and/or monkey with the CPS. I can always carry the tools and spare, to fix, but it sure seems like this is one area that will happen to all of us???

Change it and keep the old one as a spare?

I carried a spare for three years, finally needed it at around 100,000 miles on the Graphite. If you do change it, carry the old one as a spare. But carry a spare.

Thanks for all the great information here. My engine threw a P0335 code. I went to Amazon and the site said the Bosch part is NOT compatible with the Crossfire. That is an incorrect statement. I read further through the reviews, and several other Crossfire members said the same thing, so I ordered the part. The Correct part for the Crossfire is Bosch 0 261 210 170. The E-bolt is very small - less than an inch in length. The suggestion of tying a string is a stroke of genius. I doubled my odds by putting a piece of painter's tape into the E-socket, then pressing the E-bolt into the socket (adhesive side toward socket. That made it really secure. Turned the bolt into the engine by hand with u-joint and 5" extension. Toughest part was removing the clip. You have to squeeze really hard on the clip right next to the wire. After numerous attempts, I just removed the E-bolt first as something else had suggested. When I looked at the old part, I noticed there was soot on the shiny metallic dot. Wonder if just wiping this down would have solved the problem?

Hi, Just bought a 2005 SRT6 and while driving the engine lost power and was running rough. Engine light comes on and flashes. Had the car towed. Code reader says P0300 multiple misfires.
Any idea where the best place to start?

1. CPS sensor
2. fuel pressure
3. dirty relays in RCM
after that, there are about 20 pages in the manual on what to check for the P0300 code.

Thanks guys. From what I have read online the CPS seems to be a common problem. Hopefully that will fix it as I will order the Bosch one that most recommend and start there.

Changed out the CPS this morning but marginal increase in how it is running. Checked the RCM and solder all looks good If you rev it up at RPM's it seems to run smooth but has a hard time idling and will stall. The exhaust smells of very bad gas!!! Only a 1/4 of a tank in it. Should I try drain the fuel or add some clean fresh fuel and try it ?
