Need help removing the CPS. There is a plate that partially covers the base of the CPS. From looking up top, I cannot see the bolt that anchors the CPS.

1. Should I remove this plate first?
2. Also should I disconnect the CPS before removing it?
3. To get the wire off the CPS, should I be able to pull it off or does in lock in place and I have to press the tabs to get it off?

1. That's up to you, I did and it made the job a LOT easier.
2. Yes, if you can, no if you can't.
3. Yes there is a locking tab, with the guard plate removed you should be able to access the tab.

Thanks for the info. I will remove the plate first, because with the plate in place, I cannot get enough of a grip to remove the wiring from the CPS.

You can undo the bolt without removing the connector and disconnect it when it is more accessible.

I bought a six flex extension today, so maybe I will try that first and if I can't get to the bolt holding the CPS in place, then I will remove the plate.

When I replaced mine I tried to use a flex extension but the bolt was so tight that the extension would bend but not break the bolt loose. I switched to a universal between the socket and a six inch extension and it worked just fine.

This weekend I will get it done. I will probably remove that plate so that I can easily access the hidden bolt.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Don't be a dufus and try to remove the connector first - like I did. BIG waste of time.
Back the bolt out and hold the connector/CPS assembly such that you keep pressure between the CPS and bolt, so the bolt doesn't fall and get lost.

After you get it out, and put the socket and bold aside, THEN take the connector off.

I have 07 with 44k and have a new cps. Do you guys think I should swap it out and keep the old one as a spare?

IM about to set this car on fire Hahaa. No codes!!!! Cranks but no fire, it used to fire up then die after one second. If I hit the gas before it died it would stay running changed all the spark plugs now it won't start at all it will crank two sometimes three times then nothing I triple checked the plug wires there on good. Still no codes unhooked the battery same scenario. Re sodered the joints on the RCM before changing the plugs it still ran after that IM thinking ignition switch maybe cause sometimes it won't crank. What should I do please help guys I really like my 06 roadster

I'm thinking you have no gas in the tank, or a bad fuel pump / clogged fuel filter.
Test the fuel pressure at the test point on the fuel rail right as you switch on the key.
If you don't see 50-60 lbs of pressure, start replacing stuff.

It is plumb full of fuel. I will test for sure. It had pressure in the rail I released it from the valve. But didn't put a gauge on it. IM having it towed to Mercedes to run a diagnostic check on the system today. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the reply

I hope it is a Mercedes dealer who is willing to work on a Chrysler as many don't want them on their lot.
