Default IC pump replacement

I have taken off all the screws and bolts for the passenger fender liner as outlined in the thread on how to do this in order to expose the IC pump. However I seem to have another bolt that has not been mentioned. I can't get the fender liner out as it seems to be held in by another bolt that has not been discussed so far on this forum. It looks like there is another flap on the liner that is held in by the bolt (shiny one in the pics attatched) that hold on some of the coolant hoses under the CAI. Anyone run into this before. I'm reluctant to undo the bolt because not sure what it attaches to. Perhaps the nut on the bottom will fall off and I won't be able to repace it because it is inaccesible. Hope the pics help. Could not figure how to get them full size.

Not sure by those pictures, but are you sure you're not confusing the auxiliary heat pump for the ic pump? There's a pdf.file with pictures in post#2 of this thread that should help you. If you remove the splash shield under the car that covers the motor you'll see the ic pump right near the radiator on the passengers side. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...oler-pump.html

Thanks for ther reply. It is the IC pump that I am after. The problem is getting the fender liner off. I seem to have another piece on mine that your pdf didn't show. It is a horizontal flap up around where you show the leftmost 10mm bolt. The flap runs horizontally into the engine compartment and seems to be attached to the black bolt on the brass bracket shwon in the photos. At least that is what it appears since I can't really see what it is attached to. Maybe if I take the plastic shield off from under the engine I can get a better look. Strange that my fender liner is different from yours.

That bolt doesn't have to come out. As a matter of fact there's no reason to be inside of the engine compartment. Everything can (should) be accessed through the fender well.

I had the same problem! The liner had two additional fixings that weren't mentioned in the guide. One was in roughly the position you're looking at but on the other side of the metal from the one you've photographed.

If you follow the liner with your fingers, you will feel it held in place with a 10mm bolt on the underside of the car. It's very fiddly and smaller hands are more effective. It's impossible to get a tool to the bolt without first removing the middle under-tray

Thanks rg44, that is exactly right. I pulled the underpan off today and was able to get to the 10mm nut that was the last thing holding on the fender liner. It is a nut that is on the under side of the brass fixture that holds the hoses as shown in one of my pics. Taking the underpan off greatly helped with IC pump repalcement also. Makes it easier to see and work. It is strange that these cars have these minor differences. Maybe they are built one at a time.

Here is a detailed IC Pump Replacment with pics I posted a few months ago, check out the location of the pump, no need to get into engine bay

I pulled the front bumper cover off...you can get to the pump, clean the radiators, check a lot of things out with it off. Takes 20 minutes...

Rookie! LOL!

It IS a lot easier with the bumper off. More room to work with.
Procedure to remove bumper can be found HERE.

Just changed my IC pump today using the PDF directions on this forum. Went with the Johnson CM30. Also ran into the phantom bolt on the panel that wasn't mentioned in the instructions that the OP describes.

What did you guys use to clamp your hoses until you got the new pump on? Also, it felt weird just leaving that tiny air hose just dangling there. Is there any downside to not having that hooked up?

Did a throttle body resent and went for a test drive after the install, car feels refreshed and the power is "on tap" it feels like.

Cheers.

I took that little breather hose out completely..... not dangling parts for me..

I used pieces of wood and vice grips to clamp the hoses just enough to close them..

Rubber hose pieces and vise grips here. Worked like a charm.

I should have done the same. So no downside to not having it plugged into anything? Its an air sensor right?
