Two 10" subs in a volume the size of the Crossfire interior is just dumb to me. I'm only interested in an accurate power/frequency response curve and natural sounding voice & instruments. The little subs in the rear of the Crossfire do just fine to below 30 Hz and balance nicely with the mids/highs with this high pass filter in place. But, if you value big thumping bass more than accuracy (flat frequency response), enjoy. It's your car. I just can't imagine getting more than a few Hz additional frequency response out of the big subs because there isn't much musical content below 25-30Hz. But level/response matching two 10" subs would be a huge problem. Still, I'd imagine hip hop fans would love the whump whump whump from the bloated bass. And no, this high pass filter won't fix that at all.

ok Ive read almost all the post and the pictures actually confused me...I see prepare1a pic using the red and prepare2a using the black. So I think you just splice into red or black in line with the capacitor ? in prepare2a the black wire is just 1 wire with the cap spliced into it ? (since in the pic its cut off at the bottom)

Take black wirea and splice with the number 2 rgb wire. When you see the spark then you can pick up the black3 wire and cross it with the red2 and blue10 in order to get the flux pipe working within the correct specs. Dont cap the red wire no matter what you do. When all is said and done you will have one heck of a system.

did the bang for buck audio mod......what a difference, bass was humping the rear spkrs and a fuller sound. Got in the car today and the sound was different,lost alot of the the bass had to go up to +6 (that would have been to much yesterday) used the 200uf caps. What could have gone wrong ? simply cut into the black wire and inserted my cap, good crimp connectors,no exposed wire.
ok did the bang for the buck mod using the 200uf caps non-polarized from amazon. Noticed the improvement, but cant seem to get the thumping bass from rears as I read other's have. (Spliced into the black wire) It still seems Im getting more bass from the fronts ? Maybe using a 220 or 250 cap? Current setting's I use are +4-+5 bass +2 treble. Whats with the tone control ? How do you adjust it?

This was ridiculously easy, following the directions and pictures from the beginning of the thread.
I used the 330uF caps from Parts Express, and it's the best $14 improvement I've made to any car. Even with my poor soldering skills, it only took me 45 minutes start to finish.

I added 330s and still get what I think is too much bass from the door speakers. Has anyone tried or considered going to a 2nd order crossover filter?
Went the easy route and ordered the bass blockers from crutchfield. Not sure what they are rated at but took about 10 minutes to do with a cigarette break thrown in..lol. Like the outcome very well. My buddy bought a used suv and didn't like what he found in the trunk.. so I now have a new project..
Why two capacitors on the one speaker? Crutchfields come with the stranded wire already attached and shrink tube covered. Just clipped mine in half - stripped the 4 wires (speaker and capacitor) and wire nutted back together.
