Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
gualberto.ranieri@chrysler.com
After being told yesterday that the 'goodwill' effort from Chrysler was to have a local upholstery shop look at the car, give an estimate to re-attach the rear window, and Chrysler would 'help' with the cost, I was so fed up, I e-mailed the CEO at the above.
I got a response from the head of customer relations at Chrysler, and have to give her my Vin number, and a daytime telephone number to contact me. The battle rages on ..........I'll keep you all posted.
If denied, DO NOT give up, of course she may just give me the same corporate BS, but at least it went all the way to the top.

I did the same thing...got a call from some guy named Jay, who said they wouldn't do a goodwill top on my car...
I picked up my car after lunch on Friday. They did a great job. When I had asked the service manager if the top was a new design, he said no, just a new top. I can't help but wonder if in 2019 it won't need to be replaced again. Still don't understand why the state of original delivery makes a difference in warrenty coverage. That sucks for those not covered.
Car is in today getting the rear window re-attached. It is costing me $300 (out of a $750 total) which I am not too happy about, but I'm sick and tired of going backwards and forwards, and just need the car roadworthy again. I am officially done with Chrysler, as this kind of preferential treatment incenses me. At least I get a 12month Chrysler warranty on the window ..................BIG deal !!
Yup ............I suppose I should consider myself lucky, Dave, as some people got nothing. But with 7900 miles on the clock, it's obviously a time thing, so expect the 06, 07, & 08's to have it happen in the future. Don't think I'm going to buy anything Chrysler, or Fiat after this tho'..........even though they didn't build it, they should have stood behind ALL Crossfire convertibles, not just those which meet their ludicrous criteria.
Yeah, I know it's coming on my roadster too. Unless they changed the glue in 06 on all the others are going to happen as well. I have been thinking about putting the top half up and going around the edge on the inside to help keep it from happening. Not sure it would help.
Are they going to replace the complete top or is there a new method or repairing the window. Your indicating you are getting a 12 month warranty from Chrysler so I assume Chrysler is doing the repairs
Sorry if this has been discussed. Just got my roadster last week (Ohio)...bought it from a dealer in Michigan and the cars owner lived in Michigan so it never was a southern car. Does this mean IF something happens to my window it isn't covered because it is a "northern" vehicle?? Again, sorry if I am rehashing something that was discussed before.

An Auto upholsterer would repair these rear windows for approx $750, by just taking the top off, adhering the window with the improved adhesive, and refitting the top.
Does anyone have an idea on the time it takes to get a new top from Chrysler these days? I took mine to the stealership yesterday to start the process. They told me that someone else has been waiting 4 weeks for Chrysler to send the new top.
Got my car back after the 'Chrysler approved' fix, and quite frankly, apart from the window being now attached to the top, the rest of the repair 'sucks' ! There's glue all over the outside edge of the window opening, and on the inside, they didn't even bother to trim the glue (i'll post pics tonight when I get in), plus there is debris and drilling swarf all over my seats ...........very professional !
So if you're offered the window 'repair' ......my advise is not to take it ...............rant over

Hello,
There is a new rear window TSB out. The TSB is # 23-035-11 rev A. It is basically the same as the original one which replaces any 2005 roadster with the top separating from the rear window. The main difference is that in includes all states in the US. The TSB is the same number followed by a "REV A". I took my car in...I have 28000 miles on it....they took pictures of the rear window separating...in four corners...got approval in a week and had it installed by a third party interior and top shop. They did an excellent job...looks great...and I am now once again a happy owner.
There was no cost to me and it has a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty. Having it installed by a third party top shop that knows what there doing made all the difference. By the way...I do not have an extended warranty on the car...just the original 3/36 BtoB with a 7/70 power train warranty.

I wrote 4 letters to Chrysler and one to the National Safety Board before I got their attention...and finally made it happen after the new TSB. I live in Pennsylvania. The top is the original material top...but has a border around the inside if the window...I believe for better reinforcement and better high temp glue....but that's just my opinion. The new top came with the TSB which also contained detailed installation instructions as part of the TSB. They are for Chrysler techs to follow and install it. I was lucky in that my dealer agreed with me and sent it out to a local shop that does all their top and interior custom work for them. They were excellent. I was really concerned about the install...but was glad that they decided to send it out. I do not know if this new top addresses the "folds issue" that many have reported with creases forming in the fabric. I guess time will tell.
Good luck to all owners!!!! Let me know how your replacement efforts go.
Ben

Next time I have to look at this forum !
About 2 1/2 week ago my back glass did the same. 100 degree temps, here in Houston, for over a week
Thinking that no way it was going to be covered I brought it to a local mechanic, car repair shop, who has done small repairs for me
He tried to repair it himself, with various glues, and it didn't stay. He sent it out to a local shop that specializes in convertibles and they kept it for a week. He called Friday to say it was ready. It looks like ***** !
Complained like Hell to the guy. He said he would try to clean it up and get it back to how it looked before I had the problem. We shall see today. 07-16-12
Going to start the process with Chrysler and see if they will pay for the repairs or replace the top
As I said "Next time I look here at the forum" !
Thanks everyone for the info

Yesterday I found my trunk carpet soaked with water. Yep, you guessed it. Rear window.
Now would someone please point me to the tsb so that I can print it and take it to my dealer.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I got mine back from the dealer two days ago, my top was replaced at no cost and they also sent it out to a private shop to do the repairs. It came out great!!! There was no cost but it did take a lot of contact to finally get it approved and I am in CT. I had complained to the BBB, the NTSB and Chrysler but again mine finally got approved. Maybe now with the new tsb they all will be covered.
